Lizette Peterson: A Collaboration Of Passion And Science, David Dilillo, George Tremblay

Since her untimely death in July of 2002, there have been two tributes to Lizette Peterson published in psychology journals. Sher and Homer (2003) provided an overview of Lizette’s history and achievements, and Roberts (2002), in the pages of this journal, reflected on her legacy to the field of Pediatric Psychology. Both are poignant remembrances by authors who held enduring and special places in Lizette’s affections. We will not seek to replicate the scope or intimacy of those portrayals, but instead to offer a brief chronology of her distinguished career and to establish a context for the articles presented in …

Development Of Dose Conversion Coefficients For Radionuclides Produced In Spallation Neutron Sources Quarterly Progress Report 4/01/05 – 6/30/05, Phillip W. Patton, Mark Rudin
Transmutation Sciences Physics (TRP)
The research consortium comprised of representatives from several universities and national laboratories has successfully generated internal and external dose conversion coefficients for twenty radionuclides produced in spallation neutron sources. These dose coefficients fill data gaps exist in Federal Guide Report No. 11 and in Publications 68 and 72 of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), and two articles containing the data have been accepted for publication in the Journal of Health Physics. Currently, more nuclear data is needed for the rare radionuclides produced from a mercury target. While attempting to develop a workable plan to acquire this missing data, …

Local Coverage Initiatives: Solution Or Band-Aid For The Uninsured?, Jennifer Ryan
National Health Policy Forum
This issue brief surveys health coverage expansion initiatives that are operating on the county or local level, often without the benefit of federal funding. The paper explores the circumstances that have made these initiatives possible and considers the ongoing barriers that local policymakers face in sustaining the programs. Descriptions of four initiatives illustrate the range and variety of programs in operation today and offer both best practices and lessons learned for other communities. The paper also includes a brief analysis of the key elements that make up a successful coverage initiative. Finally, this issue brief considers the role of local …
