The Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) is an important tool for prescribing and monitoring training. The aim of this study was to evaluate cardiovascular changes by the variables heart rate and blood pressure in soccer players tested with RAST. A trial with 20 soccer players who trained daily and participated in sub-18 soccer championships. The heart rate (HR) was collected at rest (before warming) and right after the end of the test, as well as the systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure. For statistics it was used the paired t-test with p<0.05. The collected data show that the values at resting time point can be considered normal for healthy young people and after the test it was observed that the HR and SBP increased significantly as compared with resting time, and the DPB presented no statistically changes. Conclusion: The results showed that the cardiovascular changes occurring in the RAST test, which is an effort with anaerobic features, are similar to changes in high-intensity aerobic efforts.

Carcinogenesis is a complex process best characterized as an accumulation of alterations in genes regulating cellular homeostasis. The whole process can be divided into three main stages: initiation, promotion, and progression. It has been observed that moderate and regular physical activity (PA) may prevent cancer, mainly colon cancer (CC), up to 50% in humans. The evidence that PA protects against colon cancer is convincing. Also, PA probably protects against postmenopausal breast cancer and cancer of the endometrium. On the other hand, exhaustive exercise increases free radical DNA oxidative damage, inflammation and depresses immune function, events also related to the increased …

Overtraining may outcomes for functional overreaching (FOR), a short term decline in performance that leads eventually to an improvement in performance after recovery, or nonfunctional overreaching (NFOR) when performance decline may be reversed only by a longer regenerative period. Recently we developed a training-overtraining protocol for rats with increased workload: eight weeks of daily exercise sessions, followed by three weeks of increasing daily training frequency (2, 3 and 4 times) with decreasing recovery time between sessions (4, 3 and 2h), characterized by analyses of performance before training (T1) and after the 4th(T2), 8th(T3), 9th(T4), 10th(T5) and 11th(T6) training weeks.
