The etiology of the drift in VO2 in the respiratory compensatory threshold (RCT) during downhill running is unclear. It was investigated the velocities (VRCT) and VO2 in RCT (RCTVO2) in three different inclinations in the continuous incremental treadmill test (Tt). Eight sedentary women volunteered (24±2 years old) to undergo 10% downhill (DT), 10% uphill (UT) and near-level (NL) in Tt to exhaustion to determine the RCTVO2 and VRCT and peak VO2 on different days and were randomly allocated. The physiopathology of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the formations of senile plaques and tangles fibro-neurals causing neural death, leading to impairment of memory. The aim of this study was to analyse the effects of a systematic program of physical activity on the learning and evocational memories in elderly with AD. The aim of the present study was to analyze the effects of different rest intervals on the number of repetitions performed in the bench press exercise. Methods: 6 resistance-trained men (age 24.27±1.61 years, body fat 14.72±5.32 %, body mass 76.60±11.00 kg, 1-RM bench press 98.42±19.78kg) volunteered for the study. The running velocity on the anaerobic threshold (VAT) has been used as an important parameter of training performance. The purpose of this was to relate the VAT with the maximum aerobic velocity (MAV) and VO2max in two males. Age 26 years (+5.7), body mass 82.0 kg (+5.7) and height 182.5 cm (+4.9). It was applied the Léger-Boucher test on a track to determine the MAV and VO2max. After 72 hours, a minimum lactate test (MLAC) was applied. Child and Adolescent Obesity Clinic, in the Clinics Hospital/Unicamp give assistance to patients between 03 and 19 years, with BMI≥percentile 95 of the CDC curve. This assistance involves physicians, nutritionists, psychologists and physical educators. The aim of this study was to verify wether the density plays a significant role in the swimming model for rats. To verify such possibility the rats’ weight in the water was considered as an additional workload beyond the load increment. Forty Wistar rats divided in groups of 90, 120 and 210 days old were used. Several electrocardiogram (ECG) indexes are used to identify cardiac abnormalities in rats. However, there are few studies about the reliability of this tool. The aim of this study was to verify the reliability of a computerized electrocardiography (Heart Ware System) adapted for rats. The ECG was registered under intramuscular anesthesia (Zoletil®, 25mg/kg body weight) in the supine position, using four inserted electrodes in the subcutaneous layer of the animals’ paws (n=11). The training monitoring by blood analysis and performance tests may be useful to improve performance. However, effective interpretation of data should take in account the inherent biological and analytical variation. To verify if the difference between two serial results is significant and biologically relevant it can be calculated the Reference Change Value (RCV) from the following formula: RCV = (2)½ * Zp*(CVA2 + CV I 2)1/2, where: 21/2=to verify difference between 2 moments, Zp=Z score (probability 95% =1.96), CVA=analytical coefficient of variation and CVI=intra-individual coefficient of variation. The aim of the present study was to examine the relation between lactate concentration and pain during maximum resistance exercises. 14 healthy and non-trained women 39.8 ± 3.9 years, 60.6 ± 6.6 kg and 163.6 ± 6.6 cm were submitted to one maximum repetition test (1-RM) in leg press 45° (LP) and bench press (BP). The velocity test is theoretically a non-invasive cheap method for evaluating aerobic capacity (Vcrit) and anaerobic work capacity (AWC). Various authors have validated Vcrit, generally in the field, for predicting aerobic performance. However, the validity of AWC as an anaerobic evaluation tool is still controversial. This study aimed to compare the time-course effects of four different intensities of strength exercise (bench press) bouts on the blood lipid profile. Thirty-five Brazilian Army male soldiers were allocated randomly into five groups based at different percentages of one repetition maximum, in previous test (1-RM): 50%-1RM, 75%-1RM, 90%-1RM, 110%-1RM (this executing only eccentric phase), and control group. The total volume (sets x reps x load) of the exercise was equalized. The objective of this study was to determine the critical power (PCrit) using intensities of 230, 250, 270 and 300 Watts (W) under different speeds ranging from pedaling (60 and 80 rotations per minute - rpm). Two young adults, male, healthy and active, with an average age 22 years were selected. The test was conducted in cycle model Monark® ergomedic 894 E. Wistar adult female rats were grouped into: sedentary (S); ovariectomized sedentary (Sovx); resistance trained (T) and ovariectomized resistance trained (Tovx). The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of warm up exercises on flexibility and torque development of elderly subjects submitted to a protocol of hamstring muscles stretching. 28 subjects (9 men and 19 women), aged 66.4±6 years, volunteered for this study. The purpose of this study was to check the pedaling frequency influence on critical power (CP) determined using non-exhaustive aerobic capacity test (Chassain, 1986). Running anaerobic sprint test (RAST) is theoretically an anaerobic measurement. Similarly, anaerobic work capacity (AWC), also evaluates anaerobic performance. However, their relationships as scientifically validated anaerobic tests are still controversial. This study evaluates associations between AWC and maximum velocity (Vmax), mean velocity (Vm) velocity, peak (PP), mean (PMab), absolute (PPab), and relative (PPre) power, fatigue index (IF), and peak lactatemia concentration ([la-]p). The aim of this study was to analyze the competitive modeling of HR in eight brazilian juniors soccer players (18.84 ± 1.04 years; 71.19 ± 8.60Kg; 177.25 ± 6.04 cm) during a preparatory stage game.
