The Effect Of Different Covering Times With Plastic On Yield And Quality Of Some Table Grape Cultivars, Fuat Ergenoğlu, Semi̇h Tangolar, Serpi̇l Gök, Nesli̇han Büyüktaş, Enver Orhan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Table grapes are usually grown under plastic cover or sheets for early production. In this work, effectiveness of plastic sheet covered at two different times on the earliness and quality characteristics of some table grape cultivars were searched. Grapevines trained on a bilateral cordon trellis were grown under 2.5 m height and 3.0 m wide tunnel covered with UV+IR (Ultra violet+Infra red) type of polyethylene (PE). In result, average cluster, berry weight and their size were decreased under PE. However, uniformity in berry size and color and total shoot length and growth did not differ among applications. PE was found …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was carried out on the natural range and meadows of Atatürk University in Erzurum, 1996. Recorded species in the study were separated into 16 grasses, 16 legumes and 60 other families. High percentages of the ungrazed species (approximately % 60) indicate that the rangelands have seriously been degrated. In chemical analysis, grasses had the highest crude cellulose content, while legumes had the highest crude protein content, and legumes and other families had the highest mineral element content. In conclusion some wild species on the district rangelands could successfully be utilized in the range improvement.

The Production Technique Of Mycorrhizal Spore For Using In Large Arable Land, İbrahi̇m Ortaş, Betül Ergün, Derya Ortakçi, Server Ercan, Ökkeş Köse

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Almost %96 of plant species are mycorrhizal infected. Some of them request definitely mycorrhizal infection. Since growth of spores are obligate to the living plant roots, it is nearly impossible to produce mycorrhizal spores under the laboratory conditions. Production of mycorrhizal spores is one of the important step of mycorrhizal work. It is also very important to know the minimum amount of inoculum in order to reach the maximum percentage of infection. The aim of this research was to select the best host plant, in order to obtain high level of mycorrhizal infection, mycorrhizal species and to find the best …

Tuber production rates of Orchis laxiflora and Orchis sancta were found to be higher in dark conditions at +5°C than normal conditions. For the same species successfully cultured, the optimum transfer time to the soil was august, while the percentage of developing plants was low in spring months.

Drought Resistance In Bread Wheat Genotypes, Ali̇ Öztürk

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Development of drought-resistant cultivars is one of the major goals in plant breeding programs. Twentysix wheat genotypes were evaluated for drought resistance using the criteria of leaf relative water content (LRWC), leaf relative water loss (LRWL) and drought susceptibility index (DSI) under Erzurum conditions in the crop seasons of 1995-96 and 1996-97. The results showed that differences among the genotypes in LRWC, LRWL and DSI were significant. In rainfed condition; LRWC, LRWL and DSI of genotypes ranged between 74.0-81.6 %, 0.391-0.636 g/g/s and 0.59-1.59 respectively. High LRWC and low LRWL and DSI values indicated that Dağdaş-95, Doğu-88, Haymana,-79 and Yayla-305 …

Technical And Economical Analysis Of Short Distance Koller K 300 Yarder Used For The Extraction Of Timber In Artvin Region, Orhan Erdaş, Habi̇p Eroğlu

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The method used in transportation of raw forest products can be performed in two phases. The first phase is called " the minor transportation" which is the extraction and hauling of the logs from the felling areas to the landings and intermediate depots. The second phase is "the major transportation". This phase covers the hauling operation from landings and intermediate depots to the log yards or the mill yards. The forestry transportation of harvested woods from compartments is the most difficult and the most expensive operation. Since forests are generally located on high and steep slopes of mountainous area in …
