Monitoring And Comparing Follicular And Luteal Function Betweengenetically High- And Low-Producing Dairy Cows By Ultrasonography, Şükrü Meti̇n Pancarci
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The objectives of this study were to investigate the effectiveness of ultrasonography in monitoring ovarian activity by examining follicular growth and regression and studying the correlation between corpus luteum (CL) measurements and plasma progesterone (P4) concentrations, and to compare high-and low-production genetic lines of dairy cows regarding endogenous bovine somatotropin (bST) and milk production effects on follicular wave patterns, size and number of follicles, CL growth and plasma P4 concentrations during the estrous cycle monitored by ultrasound. Seventeen multiparous lactating Holstein cows were divided into two groups, a low-production group (control group, n=9) and a high-production group (select group, n=8). …

The investigation was performed to develope sire lines for lamb production at Acipayam state Farm. For this purpose, German Black Face (A) x Acipayam (AC) and Ramliç (R) x Acipayam (AC) cross-bred were used. According to the results; Fecundities are 109%, 72.0%, 85.0%, 95.0% and 85.0% for ACxAC, AxAC, RxAC, AxAC and RxRAC cross-bred groups respectively. Weaning weights are also 22.45 kg, 22.23 kg, 24.38 kg, 21.48 kg and 23.06kg for AC, AAC, AAAC, RAC and RAAC genotype respectively.

Comparison Of Some Production Traits In Malya And Akkaraman Sheep, Nadi̇ Çolakoğlu, Ceyhan Özbeyaz
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Summary : This research was carried out to compare the fertility traits, greasy fleece weight and wool characteristics in breeding ewes; and the growth and survival rates of lambs in Ankaraman and Malya breeds. The data was obtained for fertility traits from 5581 Malya and 9707 Akkaraman ewes, for growth rates from 100 lambs in each breed, for greasy fleece weights from 100 ewes in each breed and for wool characteristics from 32 Malya and 28 Akkaraman ewes. Fertility traits such as lambing percentage, twinning rate, litter size and number of lambs weaned per hundred ewes lambing between 1992 and …
The Utilization Of Carp (Cyprinus Carpio) Flesh As Fish Ball, Yasemen Yanar, Hasan Fenerci̇oğlu
The Utilization Of Carp (Cyprinus Carpio) Flesh As Fish Ball, Yasemen Yanar, Hasan Fenerci̇oğlu
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In this study, the sensory properties and shelf life of fish balls prepared from carp flesh were investigated. Four study groups were prepared with different combinations of ingredients: garlic, garlic-sunflower oil, onion and onion-sunflower oil. A control group was also prepared. At the end of the sensory evaluation, the groups received between 7.4 and 9.07 points from the panelists regarding appearance, texture, succulence, odour and flavour and general acceptance. The onion and garlic groups were found to be preferable to the control group (p0.05). Vacuum-packed minced fish meat stored at -18°C for 6 months was of good quality in terms …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The aim of this study was to determine the distribution of Toxocara canis larvae in some organs of chicks and to clarify if the larvae found in brain will be able to lead to the behavioral disorder or not. For this purpose, 42 15-day-old broiler chicks were allocated to 6 groups, each consisted of 5 trial and 2 control animals (Totally 30 exp. and 12 contr. anim.). Each experimental chick recevied 5000 embriyonated T. canis eggs orally. All animals were necropsied between 2 nd and 12 th days after inoculation with two day intervals. Brain, lung, liver and a half …
