An Analysis Of Pressure Gasoline And Pressure Kerosene Stoves, Arnold E. Baragar Mar 1942

An Analysis Of Pressure Gasoline And Pressure Kerosene Stoves, Arnold E. Baragar

Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station

During the past few years inquiries have been received regarding the cost of operation, efficiency, and performance of pressure gasoline and pressure kerosene stoves. Because of the method of operation and the use of gasoline as fuel, safety from fire and carbon monoxide has been frequently questioned. Not only is it necessary to have technical information about this type of appliance in order to compare it with other types but it is further important to know whether one type of burner is superior to another; whether one type of oven construction will give better results than another and in general …

The Analysis Of Cantilever Plates With Concentrated Loads, Constant Roberts Marks Aug 1941

The Analysis Of Cantilever Plates With Concentrated Loads, Constant Roberts Marks

Masters Theses

(From the Introduction)

The problem of a cantilever plate or slab with variable, discontinuous, concentrated, or eccentric loading occurs frequently in engineering design. Examples are substructure walls, piers, projecting floor slabs, and gear teeth. The solution of most of these problems can be made to depend on the analysis of the plate in question loaded with one or more concentrated loads. Such analyses are available for only a few cases of loading, and no practical method is available to the designer for making any kind of a reasonably accurate stress analysis for many cases he may encounter.

A Study Of Five Commercial Electric Stoves, A. E. Baragar, Edna B. Snyder Oct 1933

A Study Of Five Commercial Electric Stoves, A. E. Baragar, Edna B. Snyder

Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station

Five commercial electric stoves having major variations in types of surface units, in the construction, lining, and insulation of the oven, and in the retail price were studied to determine (1) the efficiency and time of heating of the various surface units, and (2) the merits of differently constructed ovens.

A Study Of Washing Machines, Edna B. Snyder, Morton P. Brunig May 1931

A Study Of Washing Machines, Edna B. Snyder, Morton P. Brunig

Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station

The purpose of this investigation was to study the performance and constructional features of various types of washing machines. The machines studied were of four types, classified on the basis of mechanical construction. The types were dolly, gyrator, cylinder, and vacuum. Eight machines were studied, four of the gyrator type, two of the dolly type, one of the cylinder type, and one of the vacuum type. The material reported in this bulletin includes the following: (1) cleansing action of various washing machines and relation of cleanness of fabric to length of washing period, temperature of water, and size of load; …

A Study Of Kerosene Cook Stoves, Edna B. Snyder Jul 1930

A Study Of Kerosene Cook Stoves, Edna B. Snyder

Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station

The purpose of this study was to learn the advantages and disadvantages of various types of kerosene cook stoves used in Nebraska. Kerosene cook stoves have burners of four types. Ten stoves representing the four types were studied as follows: four stoves having long-chimney wick burners; three stoves having short-chimney wick burners; two stoves having short chimneys with asbestos kindlers or lighting rings; one stove having wickless burners. To determine comparative performance of the four types of burners, they were tested for: (1) time required to heat a known quantity of water through a known range of temperature; (2) thermal …
