Gene therapies are emerging as powerful tools for treating genetic diseases and cancers, offering the potential for a permanent cure. Hemophilia B, affecting approximately 6,000 men in the U.S., results from a deficiency in coagulation factor IX protein (FIX), which is crucial for blood clotting. A substantial portion of patients, over 40%, suffer from severe hemophilia B, experiencing spontaneous, prolonged bleeding. This study focused on the best-estimated thermal-hydraulic calculations performed regarding the AP-1000 nuclear power plant (NPP) under primary coolant loop pump and fuel failures. Primary coolant pump and fuel failure transients are important design-basis accidents in NPP safety assessments. This work examined the primary reactor’s safety margins of fuel and cladding peak temperature, primary and secondary loop pressure, hydrogen formation, and primary and secondary flow rates.The Adaptive System Thermal-Hydraulics program was used in the simulation and event progression analysis. Nuclear reactors and their associated facilities are complex systems that require accurate modeling and analysis to ensure safety, security, and efficient operation. This study aims to model and analyze the neutron flux of a generic VVER 1200 reactor core using the Monte Carlo code OpenMC. For the purpose of this analysis, a generic model of the VVER 1200 reactor core was developed using an OpenMC simulation environment. Furthermore, using this model, the neutron flux spectrum inside the reactor core was evaluated, from which neutron fluence was calculated accordingly. Traditional individual algorithms have inherent limitations, such as handling new users or items data sparsity and ensuring relevance and diversity in suggestions. The hybrid model seeks to overcome these challenges by leveraging the strengths of all three methods, thus potentially offering more precise, personalized product suggestions. The tumor microenvironment (TME) represents the complex outcome of numerous tumor, stromal, and immune interactions, and whose composition can significantly affect treatment response. Particularly, immunotherapeutic efficacy is subject to multiple tumor-specific TME interactions that may be difficult to evaluate/predict clinically. The frequency dependence of electrokinetic particle trapping using large-area (>mm2) conductive carbon nanofiber (CNF) mat electrodes is investigated. The fibers provide nanoscale geometric features for the generation of high electric field gradients, which is necessary for particle trapping via dielectrophoresis (DEP). A device was fabricated with an array of microfluidic wells for repeated experiments; each well included a CNF mat electrode opposing an aluminum electrode. Fluorescent microspheres (1 µm) were trapped at various electric field frequencies between 30 kHz – 1 MHz. Digital images of each well were analyzed to quantify particle trapping. Reducing the response time of emergency vehicles (EV) is highly important due to the relationship between response time and fatality rate. Emerging technologies can help reduce response time by enhancing EV prioritization. Introduction: Activity-based locomotor training improves trunk control in children with spinal cord injury (SCI), and there is need for additional activities to allow these children to activate trunk muscles. The efficiency assessment of cantilever-based energy harvesters relies on vibrational analysis, which necessitates modi- fications aimed at enhancing efficiency. These modifications involve manipulating the fundamental frequency to lower values and encompassing a wider range of resonances within a specified bandwidth. Consequently, this paper introduces an original analytical-numerical exploration into the vibratory response of a cantilever with a novel boundary condi- tion involving an elastically restrained oscillator-spring arrangement. Gene replacement is a promising method of therapy for genetic diseases. However, safety and efficacy are areas that need more research. This experiment aims to use RNA sequencing and bioinformatic techniques to provide answers to these questions and provide direction to future studies to develop a gene replacement therapeutic. C2C12 mouse myoblast cells were transfected with a vector containing a CRISPR-Cas9 system and the Human Factor IX (hF9) gene in order to hijack target genes and integrate the hF9 gene. Optical fiber-based amplifiers and lasers enable a great many useful devices and conveniences. Unfortunately, however, they can generate considerable heat during operation that drives the need for complex cooling solutions, thus reducing many of the size, weight, and power (SWAP) benefits for which fiber lasers are known. Additionally, at elevated temperatures, thermally-driven phenomena, such as Transverse Mode Instability (TMI), can be induced that limit the power-scaling of fiber lasers. To fly an unmanned aircraft system (UAS), commonly referred to as a “drone,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires pilots to pass a knowledge test. There is no requirement at the state or federal level for drone operators to demonstrate the ability to operate a UAS. The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) has created an exam for public and private entities to assess basic UAS flight proficiency. The purpose of this qualitative study is to identify and understand the phenomenon of sense of belonging regarding female students’ lived experiences that may impact retention rates for female students in engineering technology majors at this particular major midwestern university. Delving deeper into the lived experiences of engineering technology female students is the focus of this research. The study’s outcome may support academic policy changes which will increase retention and graduation of female students in pursuit of engineering technology degrees.
