A Study Of Computer Use In A Graduate School Of Business, Henry C. Jr. Lucas, David B. Montgomery, Jean Claude Larreche Apr 1974

A Study Of Computer Use In A Graduate School Of Business, Henry C. Jr. Lucas, David B. Montgomery, Jean Claude Larreche

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

In the past six years, U.S. business schools have greatly expanded their use of computers in teaching and research. In 1966, only 11 percent of the business schools required student proficiency in programming; by 1970, the total had risen to 62 percent and is undoubtedly higher today. In 1971, the Graduate School of Business (GSB) at Stanford acquired a dedicated time-sharing system to replace the time-sharing services provided by the Stanford Computation Center (SCC). A study of computer usage in the GSB and of the impact of the dedicated time-sharing system was con- ducted; detailed results may be found in. …

Utilization Of Educational Television In Iowa's Elementary Schools, Jane Barker

Graduate Research Papers

In today;'s fast-paced world where messages conveyed through many forms of media, television as a form of entertainment has enjoyed much popularity. It has grown in recent years as a method of instruction in the school. The success of "Sesame Street" has powerfully demonstrated the potential of instruction through entertainment.

Television can be used effectively for learning, especially if used regularly. Kelly (1964) has shown that when television is used regularly as a source of instruction in the form of lectures and demonstrations, students do as well and sometimes significantly better on tests than when it is not used regularly. …

The Effect Of An Administration Of Audio-Visual Aids On The Attitudes Of Geometry Students Toward Mathematics, Kirk Quistorff Jan 1974

The Effect Of An Administration Of Audio-Visual Aids On The Attitudes Of Geometry Students Toward Mathematics, Kirk Quistorff

All Master's Theses

This paper presents an experiment to determine the effect of an administration of audio-visual aids on the attitudes of geometry students. It was hypothesized that the experimental group would make a significant improvement in their attitude toward mathematics. The control group had eight-two students and the experimental group had forty-six students. In the control class no audio-visual aids other than the overhead projector were used. The results did not verify the hypothesis and the author concluded that more research was needed.

The students involved in the study were randomly selected and placed in two treatment groups and one control group. The experiment did not prove that either visual aid was better than the other, but indicated that the overhead projector had more advantages and greater versatility than the chalkboard.
