Identity is the construction of interpretations of life experiences in certain contexts resulting in self-understanding. This research with a single case study design aims to explore the identity of science teachers in various contexts of Figured Worlds. The research participant is a science teacher named Yuni who has a background in Physics Education. Data were collected through two semi-structured interviews. The results revealed how Yuni interpreted science-related life experiences in Figured Worlds to construct her identity. The results of this research indicate that in the perspective of discourse identity, TN is a teacher who emphasizes contextual learning and student centered learning. Based on the perspective of nature identity, kinesthetic learning and her fondness in mathematics have a major influence on her interest in physics. This project created "Our Playlist," a song-based figurative language supplement for grade 11 high school pupils. SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya Kepulauan teachers and eleventh-graders participated in the study. Interviews and questionnaires were employed. Researchers design the product using three out of the five ADDIE phases. Our Playlist's content, language, images, and procedures scored 4.8, very good, in internal validation. Based on these results, the product can be recommended for teaching eleventh-graders figurative language, especially at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya Kepulauan.

Are They Ready? Do Teacher Preparation Programs Adequately Prepare Students To Implement Culturally Responsive Teaching?, Frances A. Aboushi

A narrative study was used to examine the lived experiences of novice teachers and their knowledge base of culturally responsive pedagogy and its implementation in the classroom. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews of 12 participants who completed a teacher preparation program. Through coding analysis, data was analyzed around the tenets of culturally responsive pedagogy and the impact of self-efficacy in its implementation. Although their knowledge about culturally responsive pedagogy varied, their responses illustrated the need for teacher preparation programs to provide a framework of uniformity and accountability.

We aim to shed light on the significant trends and key student outcomes related to student discipline in Arkansas public schools. Furthermore, we assess the impact of recent policy changes in this context and recommend further policy recommendations to neutralize negative trends.

Last year during Open Access Week, Georgia State University Library asked its students, "What should professors know about expensive textbooks?" and "What have you done when a textbook was too expensive?" Applying open pedagogical approaches, these questions were displayed on white boards at library service desks on each campus. Students were encouraged to respond to the first question in their own words, and they were asked to respond to the second question by selecting one of five responses. Responses were analyzed and anonymized, and they were then used in faculty professional development to demonstrate the local impact of expensive textbooks. …

Using ten years of de-identified student data from 2012-13 to 2021-22, our research identifies a number of key trends and outcomes related to student discipline in the Arkansas public schools. This activity allows students to become visual depictions during audience analysis. The activity can be used in a face-to-face or online delivery, and also used as a post-assessment. The activity uses an interactive Google Sheet to replicate the act of moving around the classroom and provides an active approach to audience analysis. This active approach creates a bonding experience for students to begin exploring audience members’ knowledge and interest in topics to examine what it means to analyze an audience.

Purpose: New Medical Schools need mentoring programs to enhance the personal and professional development of mentees and mentors. The need to establish a mentoring support mechanism is critical. This poster will share our progress to date.

Methods: A pilot mentoring program was established for junior faculty. These faculty members were paired with an associate professor or professor to serve as mentors for career development and engage in a focused scholarly project over a nine-month period.

This Article provides the results of the most comprehensive and detailed analysis of the correlation between bar passage and race and ethnicity. It provides the first proof of racially disparate outcomes of the bar exam, both for first-time and ultimate bar passage, across jurisdictions and within law schools. Using data from 63 public law schools, we found that first-time bar examinees from Communities of Color underperform White examinees by, on average, 13.41 percentage points. While the gap closes when looking at ultimate bar passage, there is still a difference, on average, of 9.09 percentage points. The validity of these results …

To assist policy decision-making and monitoring, a rapid review of over 200 documents relating to education in emergencies (EiE) was conducted, with a specific focus on the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the review is to support policymakers, largely in developing countries, to develop policies that promote education system resiliency with a focus on monitoring those policies. Background: COVID-19 precautions led to a change in the number of protected weekends for the UTRGV Internal Medicine Clerkship, going from 2 protected weekends to none. The aim of Academic Golden Weekends during a fully inpatient clerkship has been to maximize the student experience by providing enough time to balance all the necessary components of the student experience. Starting April 26, 2021, all cohorts completing their Internal Medicine Clerkship as third-year medical students had 3 protected weekends.

Throughout history, students with blindness and low vision (BLV) have been vastly underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines with regards to both K-12 education and post-secondary endeavors (Burgstahler, 1994; Supalo, 2010). Does Removing Quizzes Impact Student Performance In An Online Course?, John Griffith

Data for 295 college online introductory statistics students were examined to determine if removing four module (weekly) quizzes impacted student performance on a cumulative exam. In this research, student performance was not significantly impacted by the removal of the quizzes. The difference in the exam mean score earned by the group of students who did not take quizzes was less than 0.8 of a point lower than the exam average for students who took the quizzes prior to the exam. Withdraw rates significantly declined from 5 percent to 1 percent. Results of this study support the idea that course designers …

In December 2022, federal, state and territory education ministers released a National Teacher Workforce Action Plan to improve teacher supply and retention in the profession. While recognising the important role that Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) certification could play, the plan also recognised that the current approach to certification was cumbersome for teachers and called for it to be ‘streamlined’.
