When The Chatbot Is Wrong On Purpose: Using Genai Role-Play To Build Student Engagement And Critical Ai Fluency, Sierra Adare-Tasiwoopa Api

AI in the Classroom: A Virtual Summit

In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore how customized AI chatbots can be used to increase student engagement while also teaching students to question AI-generated information. The workshop centers on a role-playing game scenario in which students interact with a chatbot non-player character (NPC) that serves as a guide, informant, but one that sometimes provides incomplete, misleading, or invalid information. Rather than treating chatbot errors as failures, the activity uses them as opportunities for students to practice verification, source evaluation, metacognition, and discipline-specific reasoning.

Participants will first experience a short version of the role-playing activity as students. They will then …

Ai Tutors, Worksheets, And Task Design: Matching Ai Tools To Learning Structure, Brock Casselman Oct 2026

Ai Tutors, Worksheets, And Task Design: Matching Ai Tools To Learning Structure, Brock Casselman

AI in the Classroom: A Virtual Summit

Artificial intelligence is increasingly used by students as a learning resource in STEM courses. However, classroom observations and survey data suggest that unstructured AI use may correlate with reduced student achievement. Two concerns are especially relevant: AI systems can produce incorrect responses in tasks requiring precise validation, and students may use AI in ways that reduce active engagement with course material.

This session presents two instructional approaches designed to address these limitations: structured AI-generated worksheets and in-chat AI tutors. AI worksheets generate controlled sets of practice problems within instructor-defined course constraints. In-chat tutors provide interactive practice through problem generation, Socratic …

Money Talks: What Parents Are And Aren’T Teaching Kids About Financial Literacy, Joseph D. Foresi, Robert J. Glew

Annual DBA Scholars Conference

Financial literacy among young adults remains low despite the family's central role in early financial socialization. This study examines the relationship between parental financial socialization and children's financial literacy, extending the LeBaron-Black et al. (2022) parent financial socialization survey to incorporate cornerstone financial literacy concepts including budgeting, saving, borrowing, and investing (Redmund, 2010). Survey results reveal that while many parents introduce their children to basic financial concepts, they systematically fall short of teaching the foundational literacy skills associated with long-term financial well-being.

Ai Readiness Of Operations & Finance Professionals In A Large Urban Public School District Amidst Ai-Driven Digital Transformation, Adetunji Onamade Oct 2026

Ai Readiness Of Operations & Finance Professionals In A Large Urban Public School District Amidst Ai-Driven Digital Transformation, Adetunji Onamade

Annual DBA Scholars Conference

This qualitative study examined AI readiness among Operations and Finance professionals in a large urban public school district, a public-sector workforce underexamined in the AI adoption literature. Using a grounded theory approach, data from 24 interviews and three focus groups (37 participants) produced 164 codes across 12 themes. Findings converge on a single proposition: AI readiness in this District is an organizational infrastructure problem, not a technology problem. Two theoretical contributions emerged: the Organizational AI Readiness Infrastructure Framework, a three-level diagnostic model, and the AI Readiness Conditions Model, a five-stage prescriptive sequence from governance through systemic transformation.

Resisting Ai With Paper: Possibilities, Concerns And Protest, Laura Evans

AI in the Classroom: A Virtual Summit

While there are a number of commercial benefits involved in incorporating AI usage and training into college composition classrooms, to many the perils and problems involved in student AI use outweigh these possibilities. A growing number of composition instructors have chosen to return to requiring assignments to be handwritten on paper as an increasingly viable, and even necessary, strategy to combat the growing use of ChatGPT and other AI text generation software as an essay-writing tool. This strategy has a number of potential benefits – the ability to regulate AI usage, to create better memory retention, and decrease student screen-time …

From “I’M Not A Coder” To “I Built A Website”: Teaching Business Concepts Through Ai Vibe Coding, Jean Jeon

AI in the Classroom: A Virtual Summit

This presentation shares my experience developing an AI vibe coding project for business students with little or no coding experience. Students first replicated a website, then created their own improved version and learned from peer feedback. Through trial and error, they revised their prompts and applied course concepts related to target audiences, user experience, branding, and business models. What began as an AI tool assignment became a learning-by-doing experience that encouraged students to think like marketers. I will share the project structure, student learning process, and lessons I learned while learning alongside my students.

Trust But Verify: Testing A Framework For Ai Interrogation In Nursing Education, Michael Chamberlain Oct 2026

Trust But Verify: Testing A Framework For Ai Interrogation In Nursing Education, Michael Chamberlain

AI in the Classroom: A Virtual Summit

Generative AI produces fluent, confident output that is sometimes fabricated. Nursing students increasingly submit work built on sources that do not exist, or that exist and do not support the claims drawn from them. This session reports two semesters of classroom observation testing whether prompt design can address that problem.   The hypothesis was that structuring student prompts to require the AI to validate its own sources would improve detection of hallucinated citations. It did not. Across two sections, students who used the structured format caught fabricated citations at the same rate as students given an open prompt. Structure did change …
