This article focuses on how standard cost variances can be used in detecting potential fraudulent activities. Each primary type of variance (material, labor, and overhead) is addressed with a discussion of possible inappropriate causal factors. With approximately 46,800 farms covering 92% of the land, Nebraska is one of the nation’s key agricultural states (NDA, February 2013). The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) created programs, such as the Beginning Farmer Program and the Farm Mediation Program, to assist with the farming and ranching process. Recently, there has been a decrease in program participants. With appropriate advertising and public relations, we will increase the number of applications for the Beginning Farmer Program and the number of clinic participants for the Farm Mediation Program.

Social entrepreneurship evades easy definition and conceptualization. In this paper we attempt to advance social entrepreneurship theoretically by examining it conceptually, from a theory of the firm perspective. If social entrepreneurship entails pursuit of a double bottom line (Dees 1998), the added complexity of the social entrepreneurial venture identified by Tracey and Phillips (2007) should be discoverable from a theory of the firm perspective. Applying the knowledge-based theory of the firm to social entrepreneurship, we aver that social entrepreneurship’s added complexity is manifest when social entrepreneurs make decisions about their knowledge. Direct Service volunteers are a critical component to ACCORD's service delivery and mission accomplishment. Therefore, ACCORD is committed to maintaining its cadre of direct service volunteers. However, in 2012, ACCORD noticed a drop in the number of its direct service volunteers. The current Executive Director of ACCORD linked this drop wit h the budget cut the agency experienced in May 2011, which resulted in ACCORD's inability to provide as much support and to offer tangible rewards to its direct service volunteers as frequently as it used to.

This article espouses the effectiveness of monetary policy in a dual economic framework (interest bearing/non-interest bearing). In other words it examines how the element non-interest banking when combined with interest bearing framework affect the effectiveness of monetary policy. The use of interest based instruments can effectively be combined with the identified non-interest interest instrument to conduct monetary policy. This article recommend that Nigeria should start thinking towards a policy that takes into account the monetary aggregate instruments as the main tool for executing monetary policy.

An ongoing project to investigate the use of the internet as an information source for decision support identified the decline of the California deer population as a significant issue. Using Google Alerts, an automated keyword search tool, text and numerical data were collected from a daily internet search and categorized by region and topic to allow for identification of information trends. This simple data mining approach determined that California is one of only four states that do not currently report total, finalized deer harvest (kill) data online and that it is the only state that has reduced the amount of …

Purpose – The present study aims at contributing to the knowledge of organizational communication and cross-cultural female leadership by examining the conflict management strategies between Taiwanese female presidents and their American counterparts in Rotary Clubs.

Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected through field observations and 25 in-depth interviews with 14 Taiwanese female presidents and 11 American female presidents in Rotary Clubs. Theme analysis of the interpretive method was used in this research.
