A Framework For Developing Marketing Plans For Military To Civilian Technology Transfer, Kenneth R. Hirlinger Jr. Jun 1996

A Framework For Developing Marketing Plans For Military To Civilian Technology Transfer, Kenneth R. Hirlinger Jr.

Theses and Dissertations

The Government of the United States, in particular the Department of Defense, invests a significant amount of funding into the development of technology. This technology, as a critical component of its weaponry, allows the United States to maintain a world-wide qualitative superiority over potential adversaries who may have a quantitative advantage. As industry and government continue to downsize, the transfer of technology from the federal government to the private sector becomes important to ensure the industrial base can continue supporting the military. In addition, transferring technology allows the industrial base to gain international competitive advantages and increase the breadth of …

Integrated Marketing Communications And The Role Of Public Relations, Jennifer Lynch Apr 1996

Integrated Marketing Communications And The Role Of Public Relations, Jennifer Lynch

Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects

Integrated Marketing Communications is new and exciting. It's what's happening with communications today. However, as some define IMC in current literature, it cannot be a substitute for public relations, advertising, and marketing. Other definitions, though, seem to be more inclusive of all three functions. IMC combines a number of communication methods, but it is often flawed in scope. Experts' definitions differ, and IMC won't succeed to its fullest potential until there is more agreement among communicators. IMC is a whole new way of thinking, and may be more appropriately called Integrated Communications. It is a conglomeration of communication techniques and …

The Effects Of Source And Product Characteristics On Persuasion., Karin Braunsberger Jan 1996

The Effects Of Source And Product Characteristics On Persuasion., Karin Braunsberger

USF St. Petersburg Campus Faculty Publications

The purpose of this research was to test the "product and endorser feature congruence hypothesis." Thus, it was tested whether matching source expertise with credence attribute claims and source experience with experience attributes claims has a positive effect on consumers' cognitive responses as well as their attitudes toward the endorser and the ad. These effects were investigated for the following reasons: First, source expertise appears to have a significant impact on persuasion (McGuire 1969) and is distinguishable from source experience (Jacoby, Troutman, Kuss and Mazursky 1986). Thus, these constructs may have differential effects on persuasion. Second, credence and experience attributes …

Reconsidering The Management Of Marketing, John Murray, Aidan O'Driscoll Jan 1996

Reconsidering The Management Of Marketing, John Murray, Aidan O'Driscoll

Articles

The pace and extent of change in marketing landscape over the past decade has left many questioning the worth of marketing and its tenets. For many marketing educators it is a period of doubt and self-searching about the efficacy and role of the discipline. Yet empirical evidence reveals firms that have not only coped with these changing circumstances but have also found new and imaginative ways of winning competitive advantage. Marketing practice is adopting novel shapes and modes. In the field of management in general, new approaches to understanding and running organisations are being considered. One way of comprehending an …

Achievements In Wool, Agriculture Western Australia

Animal production and livestock published reports

The Wool Strategy Group, which I initiated in 1993, works with Agriculture Western Australia's Wool Program to set the strategic directions for its activities. Chaired by Mr Philip Gardiner, it has members whose experience include fashion, marketing, financial markets, wool production, selling, as well as strong industry linkages. This document outlines the activities that the Group and the Program have been undertaking over the past 12 months.

The Chairman of the IWTO has recently suggested that Australian production in the coming years will be insufficient or not of the right specifications to supply market demands.

In order to assist Western …

Positive Price Outlook For Wheat : Implications For Wa Agriculture, Alan Haagensen, Ian Wilkinson

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

After a 40 year period over which wheat prices have dropped by an average of 2.7 per cent annually in real terms, fundamental changes in wheat supply and demand look set to reverse this trend. It is possible that real prices could increase by as much as 4 per cent anually in the medium term.

Alan Haagensen and Ian Wilkinson look at the forecasts for wheat prices and outline the forces that will influence world supply and demands for wheat.

Advertising Research Issues From Ftc Versus Stouffer Foods Corporation, J. Craig Andrews, Thomas J. Maronick Oct 1995

Advertising Research Issues From Ftc Versus Stouffer Foods Corporation, J. Craig Andrews, Thomas J. Maronick

Marketing Faculty Research and Publications

Extrinsic evidence is frequently offered in Federal Trade Commission advertising deception cases, most often in the form of advertising research, such as copy tests. Although generally accepted principles exist for copy test evidence presented before the Commission, how these principles are operationalized can provide fertile ground for challenges. Thus, the authors review six copy testing and ad interpretation issues from the recent Stouffer Foods case. The authors discuss difficult tradeoffs inherent in relative versus absolute claims, multiple claims, control ad groups, control questions, and disclosure information. The careful consideration of such trade-offs in advertising research decisions will help in the …

A Comparative Review Of The Major Options For The Marketing Of Nigeria's Agricultural Commodities, M. O. Ojo, E. E. Inang, E. U. Ukeje Aug 1995

A Comparative Review Of The Major Options For The Marketing Of Nigeria's Agricultural Commodities, M. O. Ojo, E. E. Inang, E. U. Ukeje

CBN Occasional Papers

The main aim of the paper is to critically review past commodity marketing systems in Nigeria, highlight some of the weaknesses which constrained their efficiency, as well as assess the performance of the present system and determine the advisability of retaining or modifying the present marketing arrangement. The performance of the Commodity Boards before their abolition in 1986 was adjudged unsatisfactory. However, since the abolition of the Boards, it has been observed that the new produce marketing arrangement has introduced some dynamism into commodity pricing as produce prices for the first time have been determined by the combined forces of …

Farm And Station Stay : An Alternative Industry, Not A Hobby!, Garry Palmer Mar 1995

Farm And Station Stay : An Alternative Industry, Not A Hobby!, Garry Palmer

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

When product prices are low, or after bad seasons, it is tempting to look for a fix. But farm and station tourism is not that short-term fix. Before going into such ventures, landholders need to examine all other alternatives that might be available on their properties. GARRY PALMER'S advice could save a lot of heartache for prospective hosts.

Beefing Up Our Prospects, Trevor Boughton, Brad Mccormick Mar 1995

Beefing Up Our Prospects, Trevor Boughton, Brad Mccormick

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

In the global fish pond the Western Australian beef industry is a minnow. Production is only 5.5 per cent of Australia's total and around 2 per cent that of the United States. Our output has remained static for the last decade while competition throughout the world has expanded. Moving forward to share the benefits of growing world markets or being left behind is the long-term choice facing the industry, according to TREVOR BOUGHTON and BRAD McCORMICK.

Food Into Asia, Geraldine Pasqual, Richard Taylor

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

Competing for a share of Asia's food market may require playing by a new set of rules. New packaging and labelling formays will need careful and long-term planning and products must match the customer's palate and quality specifications.

Geraldine Pasqual and Richard Taylor explain some of the culturally significant rules of the game and why marketing success greatly depends on understanding what the customer wants and supplying it.

Learning Through International Strategic Alliances: Processes And Factors That Enhance Marketing Strategy Effectiveness, Gregory E. Osland, Attila Yaprak Jan 1995

Learning Through International Strategic Alliances: Processes And Factors That Enhance Marketing Strategy Effectiveness, Gregory E. Osland, Attila Yaprak

Scholarship and Professional Work - Business

Intensified competitive, technological, and market pressures have made organizational learning a critical imperative in global strategy effectiveness. Firms can learn through experience and from three processes that involve other firms: imitation, grafting, and synergism. Interpartner learning has become critical, since experiential learning is insufficient for most firms. Responds to calls for a broadened role of marketing and synthesizes and extends research from organization behaviour and strategic management to the field of marketing to fuel further academic inquiry. Based on an extension of Chandler′s strategy‐structure‐performance paradigm, develops propositions on how the environment, organizational culture, strategy, and structure can affect a company′s …
