American society has created separate and unequal gender roles for men and women. It logically follows that male and female athletes also receive unequal treatment. This inequity has been shown in the quantity of media coverage each receives as well as the consumption patterns of the general public. Using a survey method, this study sought to uncover responses of consumers when presented with four different types of images of athletes. Results indicated that for image conditions of athletic competence and sexy, male and female respondents showed distinct behavioral differences. Baseball organizations are always looking for new ways to fill the seats in their stadiums. Promotions have a positive effect on whether or not a fan will attend a minor league baseball game. This study examines the motivational elements of fans and why promotions have a role in persuading fans to attend a game. After polling the St. John Fisher College campus on their attitudes toward promotions, it was clear that promotions had a large affect on whether or not they would attend a game. This research aimed to find the motivations and appeal of fantasy sports in today’s society. Research has found that there are various types of motivations that lead a person to participate in a fantasy sports league. The more frequent motivations are for intrinsic, or internal, purposes. Past research has looked at males, but this study will use a survey to look at both males and females within the Saint John Fisher College undergraduate population. Shareholder Returns From Supplying Trade Credit, Matthew D. Hill, G. Wayne Kelly, G. Brandon Lockhart

We examine shareholder wealth implications of supplying financing to customers. Robust results demonstrate that excess returns and trade receivables are directly and significantly related. Further evidence indicates the value of receivables is higher for suppliers with stronger motives relating to operating and contracting costs. The results also suggest a discounted value of receivables for financially unconstrained firms. Overall, we conclude that investors recognize trade credit as an effective instrument in mitigating frictions hindering sales growth. Thus, certain suppliers are positioned to derive increased strategic benefits from credit policy.

This article develops and tests a model of continuous adaptive learning and its effects on how individuals contribute to a team in a population of undergraduate management students. We develop a measure of continuous adaptive learning, a robust measure of learning in classroom teams. We propose that continuous adaptive learning mediates the relationship between individual beliefs (both interpersonal and task related) and individual contribution to the team. Implementation of ecosystem-based fisheries management (EBFM) requires a clear conceptual and quantitative framework for assessing how different harvest options can modify benefits to ecosystem and human beneficiaries. We address this social-ecological need for Pacific salmon fisheries, which are economically valuable but intercept much of the annual pulse of nutrient subsidies that salmon provide to terrestrial and aquatic food webs. We used grizzly bears, vectors of salmon nutrients and animals with densities strongly coupled to salmon abundance, as surrogates for ‘‘salmon ecosystem’’ function. Combining salmon biomass and stock-recruitment data with stable isotope analysis, we assess potential tradeoffs between fishery yields and …

Fifty-one fishermen in the coastal villages of Kizimkazi Dimbani and Jambiani were interviewed to discover the current state of fishing in these areas. Each area has its own Village Fishermen Committees and those committees were also a subject of interest, interviewing their members as well as Fishery Department Officials to gain an understanding of how the committees function and their success. Results of fishermen interviews revealed a large number of differences between Kizimkazi Dimbani and Jambiani.
