In my dissertation, I examine how a firm's position in the supply chain information network affects its cyber risk exposure and cyber risk management. First, I document that firms that are more central in the supply chain information network have higher cyber risk exposure. Second, the positive association between firm centrality and cyber risk is mitigated by both the IT governance strength of the focal firm and its supply chain partners. Third, the exposure to cyber-attacks through supply chain information networks also has several implications on corporate policies. I find that managers of more central firms are more likely to …

The study explores the narratives and best practices of 33 Successful Conflict Resolution Entrepreneurs (SCREs) in the United States. In doing so, the study helps to fill an essential gap in the literature, where research on conflict resolution entrepreneurship with experienced practitioners is rare. Given the focus of the study on narrative inquiry and thematic analysis, this methodological approach achieved an in-depth qualitative analysis of conflict resolution entrepreneurial experiences. Managers and leadership teams invest time in resolving workplace conflicts, but the key question is whether professional learning effectively delivers lasting outcomes for individuals and organizations. This study created an eight-hour conflict resolution training on Bolman and Deal’s Four Leadership Frames to educate Central Florida professionals on using multiple perspectives in conflict resolution, evaluating effectiveness through the Kirkpatrick Model. ASC 350-20 grants public business entities (PBEs) the discretion to determine timely recognition of goodwill impairment charges, which likely introduces managerial ambiguity in the goodwill impairment process. Consequently, this paper explores whether the ambiguity in goodwill accounting standards allows managers to engage in favorable financial reporting during economic disruption, such as the global financial crisis of 2008 and 2009 or the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in 2020. Utilizing systems thinking methodologies and tools, this dissertation explores the complex growth and development challenges faced by the industrial hemp industry in Pennsylvania. Identified were key stakeholders, regulatory barriers, and market forces influencing the industry revealing a misalignment of goals and a lack of stakeholder collaboration as significant impediments. Legal and regulatory frameworks, supply-demand imbalances, and ineffective partnerships emerged as critical factors impacting the industry's future. Recommendations to address misalignments include fostering stakeholder collaboration, improving public-private partnerships, and utilizing interactive planning to address systemic issues to enhance the industry's growth potential.

This thesis provides a comprehensive analysis of the U.S. whiskey industry, emphasizing distilleries' geographic distribution, operational characteristics, and the agricultural landscapes surrounding them. Particular attention is given to the feasibility of U.S. distilleries locally sourcing grains used in production. Grain demand ranges were estimated for the 1,485 distilleries analyzed within this study. Using cropland and yield data from the USDA, local grain availability was approximated for comparison. Results indicate that a distillery's local sourcing feasibility is significantly impacted by its production capacity and geographic location.

The role of real estate agents as intermediaries in property transactions is well-established. However, the extent to which their positioning within professional networks influences transaction outcomes remains to be discovered. Drawing inspiration from network theory, this dissertation explores the relationship between real estate agent networks and performance metrics. Using a comprehensive dataset of Tarrant County, Texas, MLS transactions spanning 2002-2022, I test how agent network size and position relate to the property sale price and time on the market (TOM). Sports are fraught with gender inequality and sexism. This research focuses on differences in public opinion regarding top athletes' personal social media. The study investigates gender differences in topic, gender differences in tone, gender differences in platform, and differences in sports. Additionally, it aims to explore the tone and topics of comments on Instagram and X. Using the methodology of content analysis, this study will examine comment tone (e.g. negative, positive, or neutral), as well as whether the topic of comments is sports-related or gender-related. Findings provide insight into gender differences in the treatment of athletes in the digital sphere.
