This paper explores the various ways in which self-service technology (SST), if employed by the hotel industry, can actually contribute to the productivity growth in Singapore. The study provides an understanding of customer’s technology acceptance and readiness by utilizing the two widely extended and accepted approaches, Technology Readiness Index (TRI) and Technology acceptance model (TAM). The study also evaluated the four common self-service technology channels: electronic kiosks, the Internet, mobile devices, and the telephone applications. This research discusses the effect of management and decision-making styles on the job satisfaction of academic staff in selected Malaysian public universities. The sample consisted of 1,117 respondents. The instruments used in the study were the Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire developed by “Lester”, adapted from Herzberg’s Theory, Decision Style Inventory by Rowe and Boulgarides and Likert’s 4 systems. The purpose of the study was to conduct an analysis of the equity of the Utah state funding allocation system for K-12 education including a trend analysis for the decade 2000-2009. Hotel guests are facing a variety of different hotel rates when booking online. The transparency of the Internet is driving hotel prices towards rate parity. This study investigates room rate parity, room and hotel availability, price consistency, and rate guarantee. The study examines 240 property-date combinations, focusing on ten metropolitan areas, using a sample of 120 hotels for two booking dates, and analyzing three hotels per four hotel segments. The results suggest that Orbitz, an indirect distribution channel, is the best choice when booking rooms in budget and midscale market segments. This study investigates supervisor gender and various dimensions of employee job satisfaction within the casino-entertainment sector of the hospitality industry. Specifically, these dimensions were analyzed from the perspective of three variables related to individual employees: (1) satisfaction with company; (2) satisfaction with department; and, finally, (3) satisfaction with the supervisor. The data for this study was obtained from an employee survey administered to employees in three separate Nevada casino-entertainment properties and their corresponding corporate office. This dissertation consists of two essays on how investor sentiments affect the returns and volatility of the Brazilian stock market. Both essays share a similar methodological approach. The first one analyzes the effect of investor sentiments on the returns and volatility of the Brazilian stock market using a model that accounts for fundamentals (rational) and noise components (irrational) of investor sentiments on the Sao Paulo leading index Bovespa. This research finds a statistically significant positive (negative) impact of rational (irrational) sentiments on market returns. The typical timeshare sales process is a 90-120 minute sales presentation conducted by a timeshare sales representative to customers.
