The Cognitive And Affective Components Of Organizational Identification, Brian O'Neill Oct 2023

The Cognitive And Affective Components Of Organizational Identification, Brian O'Neill

Business: Faculty Presentations

Extant literature has linked organizational identification (OID) to many vital organizational constructs and outcomes, such as job satisfaction, job involvement, work engagement, organizational affective commitment, organizational-based self-esteem, cooperation, creativity, extra-role and organizational citizenship behavior, work effort, intention to stay, decreased turnover intentions, and job performance. However, despite the identified benefits of organizational identification, a growing body of research has noted its dark side. For example, OID has been linked to identity lies, negative emotions, and unethical proorganizational behavior. At the same time, there is limited research examining the separate influences of the cognitive and affective components of organizational identification on …

Business: Faculty Presentations

University-based research continues to rely on industry partnerships to help support the innovation, exchange and application of new technologies. At the same time, University R&D has increasingly focused on technologies that support a wide range of environmental, societal and economic Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) launched by the United Nations in 2015. This has put a spotlight on the need to address technology transfer from the university to industry, where the university often lacks the resources needed to assess the feasibility of market adoption of new technologies. Minimum Exchange Rate And A Negative Interest Rate: The Swiss National Bank’S Unconventional Monetary Policy During Eurozone Volatility, Wally Bargeron

Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection

Monetary policy is one of the most important tools that a government has to influence its economy. This means the ability for a country to determine their own monetary policy is important to that country’s autonomy. Switzerland has consistently based its decisions on what would afford it the highest level of autonomy, including the decision not to join the European Union and subsequently the decision to retain their own currency.

The Swiss National Bank retains the mandate to keep price levels (inflation) stable, but it is challenged by an appreciating currency. Because the Swiss Franc is a safe-haven currency, money …

The Inherent Bad Faith Of The Ncaa's Use Of Title Ix To Shield Its Illegal Business Practices, Sam C. Ehrlich

Management Faculty Publications and Presentations

This Essay examines the moral and policy implications of the NCAA’s use of Title IX to argue for legislative immunity from antitrust and employment law. Regardless of if there is merit to the NCAA’s in-court assertions that Title IX prevents employment status, revenue sharing, and other reforms, the NCAA’s requests to Congress for legislative protection and immunity requires a monumental degree of faith that an all-powerful NCAA would sincerely carry out its supposed commitment to gender equity. Yet this Essay finds that the NCAA has hardly earned the level of trust necessary to grant it that power. To the contrary, …

Nebraska Rural Poll

Rural Nebraskans are more positive about the current change in their communities this year but are less positive about its future. Starting two years ago, the proportion believing their community changed for the worse was more than the proportion believing it had changed for the better (similar to what occurred in 2003 and 2009). However, this year that trend reversed back to the typical pattern. This year, more believe their community has changed for the better than has changed for the worse. When asked about what they expect ten years from now, this year more people believe their community will …

The Five Factor Model Of Personality And Hr Employees’ Perceptions Of Ai Adoption, Maddy L. Filetti

Student Publications

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support Human Resources (HR) functions has recently gained influence and sparked controversy in both academic and applied settings. While studies on human-technology interaction have mainly focused on the response of humans to digital technologies in various contexts (e.g., instant messaging and social media), there remains a lack of empirical research on HR professionals’ individual perceptions of AI tools. This paper will utilize McCrae & Costa’s Big-Five Factor Model of Personality (1989) to develop five theoretical propositions about HR workers’ dispositional willingness to accept AI technology. It is proposed that while agreeableness, openness …
