Generational Differences In Consumer Decision-Making Constructs, Heather Meyer, Chloe Murphy Oct 2022

Generational Differences In Consumer Decision-Making Constructs, Heather Meyer, Chloe Murphy

Mountain Plains Business Conference

Reference groups supply the individual with a sense of group membership, and thereby social identity. In the consumer behavior literature, reference groups have been shown to impact not only individual purchases, the decision-making process, and attitude formation towards brands and products. Generational cohort theory argues that people who experience major life events during a similar point in time possess synonymous values, characteristics, and preferences that are manifested through individual behaviors. The goal of this study is to extend prior research by examining generational differences in various consumer decision-making constructs. The results were mixed as are discussed.

Manipulation In Agricultural Commodities Futures Market: Application Of Benford’S Law, Frank Tenkorang Oct 2022

Manipulation In Agricultural Commodities Futures Market: Application Of Benford’S Law, Frank Tenkorang

Mountain Plains Business Conference

Due to manipulation suspicion, farmers have less confidence in the agricultural commodity futures market. For example, the sharp increase in the 1989 July soybean futures price was due to market manipulation by Ferruzzi Finanzia S.P.A., a major buyer of soybeans (Knight, 1989). Data manipulation is generally difficult to detect; even auditing financial records with sophisticated methods often misses it. Using Benford’s Law, Amiram et al. (2015) detected manipulation in Fairfield Sentry Fund investments managed by Bernie Madoff. This study applied a modified Benford’s Law to soybean futures trading data, and preliminary results confirmed the Ferruzzi effect in 1989.

Ewom Platforms As Productivity Catalyzers For Travel Agencies: A Two-Stage Double Bootstrap Data Envelopment Analysis, Tomas Saralegui

ITSA 2022 Gran Canaria - 9th Biennial Conference: Corporate Entrepreneurship and Global Tourism Strategies After Covid 19

The travel industry, and in particular travel agencies, face a severe challenge to increase productivity. The fashion retail industry heavily relies on an unsustainable business model of maximizing production, fueling the throwaway culture, regardless of environmental costs. As a compromise, the secondhand fashion industry (ukay-ukay), is an interesting sustainable alternative since it reduces waste and recirculates clothing—two integral grounds for a circular economy (CE). However, studies assessing Filipino consumers’ perception of ukay-ukay as a CE are limited, making their role and a CE’s subsequent potential indeterminate. Thus, this study analyzes Filipino Gen Z consumers’ motivating factors of perceived value, the dynamics of individualism, and investigates their role in the ukay-ukay CE. This quantitative study collected …
