Farmers’ Hiring Decisions Towards Farm Mechanization Services In The Cauvery Delta Zone Of Tamil Nadu, Krishnadas R
Theses and Dissertations
Agriculture is critical to any country's economic development. It not only benefits the primary and secondary sectors but also helps the economy flourish. In addition to ensuring food security, the Indian agricultural sector provides work to huge populations, both directly and indirectly. Traditional farming practices are now overused, labour is no longer abundant, and the power demand is rising steadily. The rapid development of technology has given rise to new opportunities in agriculture (Balafoutis, Evert, & Fountas, 2020). Technology aids agricultural growth by allowing more effective utilization of inputs. It has the potential to make an immense contribution to agricultural …

Reducing Carbon Emissions In Supply Chain Transportation, Khalid Bin. Essa
Sustainable Supply Chain Management
This chapter explores strategies to reduce carbon emissions in supply chain transportation, a sector responsible for nearly one-quarter of global energy-related CO₂ emissions. It begins by analyzing the environmental impact of major transport modes trucks, planes, and ships and identifies operational challenges like inefficient fleets, outdated infrastructure, and time-sensitive delivery pressures.
The chapter presents practical solutions including the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles, use of route optimization software, intermodal transport methods, and energy-efficient warehouse operations. Each approach is supported by real-world case studies from Maersk, UPS, and Walmart, illustrating how industry leaders are improving both sustainability and logistics performance. …

Institutional Pilot Changes Lead To A Reduction In Emergency Department Boarding Patients, Rohan Akhouri, Jennifer Watts, Christopher S. Kennedy, Kelly A. Sinclair, Bethany Bolt, Ashley Daly
Research Days
Background: Crowding and boarding pediatric emergency departments (ED) is an ongoing problem associated with a mismatch in resources and patient care demands. ED boarding can be defined as a patient admitted to an inpatient unit who remains in the ED. ED boarding occurs when there is limited availability of inpatient bed space – either due to patient volume or decreased staffing. ED boarding is associated with adverse events, and increased mortality. Few studies address the impact of inpatient strategies on ED boarding. The objective of our study was to evaluate hospital-based strategies within a single institution and their effect on …

Our goal is to evaluate applicability of a population of labor and delivery patients for sentinel surveillance system for monitoring the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Impact Of Esg Ratings On Company Stock Price Returns, Benjamin Mccormick
Honors College Theses
ESG, Environmental, Social, Governance, is a new business philosophy that asserts that businesses have a duty to the environment, their communities, and to act legally and ethically. ESG rating agencies are built around grading public companies on their fulfillment of these objectives. Critics of ESG cite that ESG dilutes the primary purpose of business, to create value for shareholders. This paper uses regression analysis to test whether these perspectives are mutually exclusive. With stock returns as the dependent variable and ESG ratings as the dependent variable of interest, this paper finds a slight correlation between lower returns and companies in …

Management Department Faculty Journal Articles
In this paper, we are situated in postcolonial, decolonial, and feminist epistemologies to study environmental racism in the Anthropocene—a new geological epoch where human activity has changed the functioning of the earth. Drawing from critiques of the Anthropocene, the concept of racial capitalism, as well as environmental justice and racism scholarship, we show how proposed solutions to the climate crisis overlook and may even exacerbate racial injustices faced by communities of color. We contend that a climate justice agenda that is grounded on racial justice is necessary for our scholarship to develop a racially just management and organization studies (MOS). …

Cross-Market Effects Of Consolidation: Evidence From Banking, Andrew Bird, Ding Du, Stephen A. Karolyi
Accounting Faculty Articles and Research
The U.S. banking sector had nearly 70% fewer banks in 2022 relative to 1989, primarily because of mergers. We develop a methodology to estimate cross-market spillover effects of bank mergers and test whether the operations of incumbents facing consolidating competitors in one market are affected in other markets. We find that nonmerging banks within a market that are one standard deviation more exposed to mergers in other markets increase deposits by 2.1% relative to their less exposed competitors. Our methodology may be applied elsewhere to assess the aggregate impacts of industry consolidation and illustrates challenges with product-based or geographic market …

Examining The Career Path Of Certified Public Accountants In Audit And Tax Services: Perceptions Of Accounting Graduates' Competencies, Steven Mulhollen
Dissertations
Accounting professionals claim there is a deficiency of individuals with the appropriate competencies to enter the accounting workforce (Pasewark, 2021; Richardson, 2020; Sandifer, 2018; Thomson, 2017). Also, recent trends indicate a need to increase the number of qualified accounting professionals who can pass the Certified Public Accounting Exam (CPA Exam) and enter the public accounting workforce (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants [AICPA], 2021a; Dawkins, 2023). This quantitative, causal-comparative study expands existing studies by analyzing the impact of CPA's chosen career path of audit or tax on their perception of the required and attained accounting competencies. The idea behind project management is to complete objectives efficiently within a certain time period given a restricted number of resources. This means project management is a process of principles, tools, and methodologies used to effectively manage a team through the System Development Life Cycle. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) …
