Máscaras De Fe: Espiritualidades Queer Y Estrategias De Anonimato En La Argentina Posdictatorial, Yacurmana De La Puente
Conexión Queer: Revista Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Teologías Queer
This article proposes that —in risk contexts marked by institutional violence and religious exclusion— anonymity is not absence but a radical spiritual and political practice. Adopting pseudonyms, masks, or disguises is interpreted as a form of faith in life, pleasure, and community. These strategies subvert binaries between truth and falsehood, authenticity and disguise, proposing a queer ethics of presence. The analysis focuses on pride marches as rites of passage where anonymity is re-signified as collective consecration: the street becomes a temple, the disguise a sacrament, and the mask a spiritual icon.

Through Pentecostal and Holiness missionaries, Madame Guyon’s ideas influenced Christians around the world —including in Latin America— prompting the need for a reevaluation of her works. This article interprets «pure love» in A Short and Easy Method of Prayer and Guyon’s autobiography, drawing on Marcella Althaus Reid’s Indecent Theology and the ecofeminist insights of Ivone Gebara. The goal is to revive the erotic dimension in Guyon’s relationship with God and her «spiritual children,» showing how she teaches the possibility of developing a healing and resilient relationship with the Divine through painful physical and emotional human experiences, in order to find …

This issue of Conexión Queer, titled «Bodies in Transit, Beliefs in Dispute,» offers a reflection grounded in the margins, where spirituality and dissidence intertwine. Through a critical and celebratory lens, it invites us to inhabit the tensions between the divine and the embodied, between faith and desire, dogma and festivity. It recognizes and affirms the transformative power of bodies that resist normativity, question theological certainties, and insist on living queer spiritualities as acts of embodied justice and subversion from the margins.

This article reflects on the historical participation of diverse sex-generic people throughout the history of Christian churches. From biblical times to the present, various forms of leadership have been evident. Despite their active presence, cis-heteropatriarchal leaderships have favored structures of oppression, reproducing dynamics of exclusion. Emerging communities embody a living resistance that calls for democratizing faith and recovering the fundamental values of the Gospel, as well as rethinking modes of inclusion. These new forms of spirituality, often mediated by technologies and virtual spaces, open pathways toward more inclusive, just, and diverse churches.

The evolution of liturgy, preaching, and religious architecture has accompanied the officialization of Christianity, giving rise to complex buildings and artistic expressions, such as basilicas. This process, though historically met with resistance, continues to this day and becomes especially relevant from queer perspectives. The article highlights the importance of the arts — music, theater, dance, poetry, and visual arts — in liturgy and preaching, not merely as embellishment, but as vehicles for opening up new spiritual languages. These queer liturgical practices affirm marginalized LGBTIQ+ identities and heal historical memories, engaging with their realities and struggles.

Herencias Y Resistencias Desde La Interseccionalidad: Género, Sexualidad Y La Reforma Radical, Norberto D'Amico

This article examines how the Radical Reformation movement — although it did not transform gender roles or acknowledge dissident sexualities — left a living theological legacy in inclusive practices and critical theologies that continue to sustain emancipatory struggles today. Through an analysis of the feudal context, peasant revolts, and the tensions between moral control and embodied spirituality, the article explores how gender and sexuality were regulated, repressed, or re-signified. The analysis recovers historical, theological, and mystical elements which —when read through feminist and queer lenses— open new paths for rethinking faith through justice, autonomy, and bodily dignity.

Sexualidad Sacramental: Beber Sangre En La Era Del Sida, Timothy R. Koch

This essay explores the dissonance experienced by a gay man living with hiv/ aids when confronting Christian sacramental theologies—particularly Communion—in a context where ingesting blood and body is symbolically central yet practically discouraged. Drawing on personal experience and ancestral metaphors of mining, the author reimagines Eucharistic traditions (Memorial, Consubstantiation, Transubstantiation) as rich theological «ore» to be mined and refined. Through a queer lens, Communion becomes a resource for rethinking the spiritual, sexual, and political lives of gay men. Rather than repairing doctrine, the piece invites a queer excavation of meaning, seeking what sacred resonance these practices may still hold.

This project addresses the critical gap in the inclusion of families experiencing disabilities within small groups at Saturn Road Church of Christ. The primary aim is to develop a curriculum that raises awareness among small group leaders about this significant issue. To provide a theological reflection on the necessity of such a venture, I explored the topic through the lens of four theological pillars: the image of God, the incarnation, ecclesiology, and eschatological hope. The Catholic Church notably condemns all forms of artificial birth control and advocates natural family planning as the only morally licit means of spacing births. This teaching is presented as the quintessential pathway to the fullness of human sexuality, but many Catholics struggle with it, and the magisterium itself recognizes that this path is not an easy one to follow. This article uses recent developments in Catholic moral theology around the notion of structural sin to examine the structural constraints complicating ordinary Catholics’ pursuit of their tradition’s vision for marital sexuality, demonstrating that larger structural forces can considerably affect the …

This article offers an interdisciplinary study of the French Catholic philosopher Jacques Maritain during World War II in order to provide an historical resource for understanding the global dimensions and possibilities at work in modern Catholicism. In 1941, while living in New York City, Maritain helped to cofound and lead the École Libre des Hautes Études (the “Free French University”). An initiative primarily created by American and French intellectuals, the university became an important hub for rescuing and employing nearly two hundred individuals from across the world. The goal of this article is to show that the ministries of new communities are in conformity with the theological and magisterial vision of the Church and that, in many cases, they contribute to its enrichment. Following some lexical clarifications, it makes particular use of the schema of the threefold offices of Christ in which the members of new communities partake as the baptized, to show how the ministries realize each of the dimensions of Christ’s office.

The Hospital de San Lázaro was a specialized health facility in the early modern Philippines, dedicated to the care of lepers and sufferers of other contagious diseases. While it was established for this specific purpose, its role in colonial society varied. This versatility reflected the distinct priorities and commitments of the groups pulled into its orbit, as each charged San Lázaro with a unique meaning. This article explores how and why these groups—the indigenous Filipinos, the Spanish residents and the Discalced Franciscans—understood San Lázaro in their own way. This paper was presented in the Bioethics Section of the Evangelical Theological Society. It explores how arguments for elective abortion and also for some forms of euthanasia treat personhood (and thus the sanctity and sacredness of that individual life) as something that is merited by possessing certain functional capabilities and behaviors. By contrast, this paper argues that in the Bible this personhood is conferred by grace apart from meritorious capacities. Thus the first mimics legalism while the second reflects the principles of Gospel salvation. This research project attempts to explore the perceptions and experiences of Christian religious education leaders regarding the role of Sunday Schools in forming the socio-religious identity of Christian students in Karachi. Employing case study design within the qualitative paradigm of educational research, this study seeks to explore how leaders visualize their role and contribution in shaping the socio-religious identities of the children through Sunday Schools. The data was collected from the three participants through semi-structured interviews. The foundation for human equality is central to the question of political discourse, and the basis for self-government, consent, and consensus. On what basis can two people enter into contract or agree to be governed if they are not equal? The Declaration of Independence with its appeal to Nature’s God and its establishment of “rights” as coming from that God firmly establishes human equality in a metaphysical reality outside of human decision to change that reality. Le terrorisme islamiste bouleverse les sociétés contemporaines et appelle une réponse multidisciplinaire intégrant les volets militaire, juridique, politique et religieux. La littérature, par sa portée réparatrice, participe à cette lutte. L’œuvre Mécaniques du chaos de Daniel Rondeau illustre cette dynamique en dénonçant l’extrémisme violent et en analysant les mécanismes sociaux, religieux et économiques qui le nourrissent. Avec plus de 60 % de la population mondiale active sur les plateformes numériques, les réseaux sociaux constituent un terrain fertile pour la désinformation religieuse, incluant les fausses nouvelles ciblant des groupes religieux et la déformation de textes sacrés. La propagation rapide résulte de motivations politiques et économiques, de l’ignorance, du fanatisme religieux et des biais médiatiques. Les utilisateurs contribuent à cette diffusion en partageant du contenu sans vérification. Over the past thirty years moral injury has been a topic of concern regarding the behavioral and spiritual health of military members. Part of that work has given a voice to Vietnam veterans and the events they faced while in combat. Some of these events were acts of betrayal at the hands of another military member or their own. This act led to an injury to their moral code. Military chaplains may have morally injured soldiers in need of pastoral care as they serve. This includes soldiers working the military prisons like the United States Disciplinary Barracks in Fort Leavenworth. …

An Interpretation Of Isaiah 7:14 Based On The Birth Motif, Younggwang Kim

Isaiah 7:14 is a well-known verse but is interpreted differently by scholars. The verse can be understood based on the Christological emphasis or can be read based on the historical-contextual emphasis. The dualistic reading is also divided into the embedded Christological meaning and the non-embedded Christological meaning. This research provides a more concrete explanation model to read the multi-layered implications of Isaiah 7:14, which is the birth motif approach.
