This paper examines the concept of acting upon conjecture (ẓann) through an interdisciplinary lens, integrating Islamic jurisprudence and modern economic theory. It focuses on decision-making under conditions of risk and uncertainty, distinguishing between risk—which is quantifiable—and uncertainty, which relies on subjective judgment. The study explores behavioral attitudes toward risk (aversion, neutrality, and preference) and their implications for strategic decision-making. From a jurisprudential standpoint, the paper highlights the epistemic limitations of human knowledge, particularly regarding the unseen (ghayb), and the consequent reliance on probabilistic reasoning in Islamic legal thought. Layène sung prayer (called sikkar) is embedded within the religious practices of the Layène community, a minority Sufi order in Dakar, Senegal. This article explores the functions of Layène sung prayer, focusing especially on its loud, vibrational timbre. Both men and women vocalists in call-and-response sing loudly, using wide vibrato and electronic amplification to ensure that the sikkar reaches the inhabitants—both human and non-human—in the surrounding community. This article provides educators in fields such as Middle Eastern studies, refugee studies, cultural and Islamic studies with a framework from documentaries to challenge stereotypes about Muslim refugees and migrants. Using the framework of lived Islam, the article explores how Syrian Muslim migrants, as seen in documentaries, draw on their faith to build resilience that enables them to continue striving for better lives. After independence, Sudan’s political elite adopted colonial-inspired policies that sought to divide the country into North and South (Arabs versus Africans). This policy was further reinforced by the civil wars and by the failures of the Sudanese political elite to construct a cohesive national identity. In the post-independence period, one elite group aligned itself with an Arab identity, while another embraced an African identity. Logically, therefore, both identities—Islamic-Arab and African—encompass the majority of the population. It has been more than two years since the war erupted in Sudan. Although the crisis initially started between two warring parties, it has expanded beyond the two with the involvement of multiple actors. However, the current conflict is complicated and has deep historical origins. It increased after the 2019 revolution, with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) battling for power and control. On the other hand, the situation has deteriorated dramatically, as the economy suffered from the continuation of the war, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). It concludes that both parties to the conflict violated international human rights and humanitarian law, with most violations amounting to war crimes. This case study investigates how a local community agency engages with the Somali diaspora to design and implement culturally responsive services, such as the Settlement and Integration Program. It also explores the potential of fostering meaningful dialogue with community members to inform the development of culturally sensitive programming. The research question guiding this study was developed by findings from previous research, which highlighted the significance of community engagement, sustained dialogue, and the necessity for agencies to design clearly defined programs. These programs should prioritize active participation from community members in both the creation and implementation of tailored initiatives.

This research aims to examine various monetary systems proposed by economists in the literature and evaluate proposals within the Islamic economy for reforming the monetary system. The study concludes that money has increasingly become an end in itself rather than a tool for exchange or a standard for measuring value, leading to disruptions in both local and international monetary systems. Additionally, the dominance of the U.S. dollar as the global currency has contributed to numerous international crises. The present study examines certain provisions in the Divorce Section of Jordanian Marital Status Law No. 36 of 2010, in which legislative choices diverge from those made by mainstream scholars within the four Fiqh schools. The study investigates the intentions of the Jordanian legislator through a review of this section. It is found that there are only three such cases, which notably present a different perspective.
