Jordan Journal of Islamic Studies

This paper examines the impact of the need to deal with arrears in Islamic banks according to the rules and principles of Islamic Sharia. It shows the definition of arrears in Islamic banks and their risks, the procedures for dealing with bad debts and the question of penal condition. The Islamic banks may not impose fines on those who are late in paying their debts. Any increase in the principal of the debt is Riba and may instead increase the number of guarantors and increase the guarantees required to guarantee their rights.

This study tackles the Islamic attitude from dealing with refugees; it discusses the concept of refugee and its reasons, and refugees' rights. It clarified that among their rights are preserving the five necessities, the responsible personal freedom, and the commitment to the system and law of that country which gives the refugee a permission to settle there.

The study also clarified the morals and behavior principles how to deal with refugees, such as human dignity and the principle of justice in dealing with him, despite of his religion, and the protection of his life and rights.

This study aims to reveal the impact of the pure overcharge (alghaben) free of delude (gharar) on the contract binding for both contractors, in Islamic jurisprudence (feqh) and civil law, by reveling the meaning of pure overcharge (alghaben), and its forms, and the stand of the Islamic jurisprudence and civil law scholars towards the rightness of option to the overcharged person, then discussing their views and their proofs, and surpass between them, and clarifying the conditions and controls that should be available to confirm the option in pure overcharge (alghaben).

This research investigates the impact of Donald Trump’s campaign during the 2016 presidential elections and the so-called, “Muslim” Travel Ban presidential executive orders, on communities of first and second-generation Middle Eastern, Muslim immigrant women in the Los Angeles area, and it is framed within the context of post 9/11-biases and racial discrimination. I am particularly interested in the question “Has religion served as an opiate or stimulant for black political protest?” And my research attempts to answer it by chronicling the experiences of black Muslims in southern prisons. My dissertation builds on Michelle Alexander’s groundbreaking book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness (2010).
