This thesis examines Abū Bakr al-Kalābādhī’s (d. 380/990) understudied ḥadīth commentary, the Baḥr al-fawāʾid al-mashhūr bi-maʿānī al-akhbār. The first Anglophone study of the text as a whole, this thesis situates itself within the emergent literature on ḥadīth commentaries and challenges the prevailing scholarly tendency to reduce Sufi-authored commentarial texts to the ishārī method of interpretation and to treat them solely as repositories of Sufi themes. This thesis argues that, contrary to current perceptions of the text as primarily a work of Sufism, the Baḥr al-fawaʾid is first and foremost a work of ḥadīth commentary, its main intent being to …

This study examines the history of Islamic science through the paradigmatic shift in agronomic discourse (filāḥah) in Andalusia during the 11th to 12th centuries CE. Employing Thomas Kuhn's paradigm shift theory within his framework of Scientific Revolution, this qualitative research aims to reconstruct the intellectual transformation of the Muslim agronomist community from a magical-speculative orientation toward an empirical-technical one. The study applies a five-stage historical research method topic selection, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography in conjunction with the paradigm shift concept, as applied to the major agricultural treatises of Andalusia. This study analyzes the distribution of cognitive levels in listening (istima’) questions and identifies which language skill demonstrates the least integration of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Employing a qualitative content analysis approach within a library research design, the primary data source is the 2020 Arabic Language Textbook for Grade X published by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (KEMENAG). Secondary data include theoretical and empirical literature on HOTS-based assessment and Arabic language pedagogy. Most Indonesian Hajj officers lack adequate Arabic language skills, hindering optimal service to pilgrims. This study aims to analyze their communicative needs as a basis for designing contextual Arabic learning videos. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using need analysis. Informants were selected purposively from experienced Hajj officers. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis, then analyzed thematically. The findings identified seven key communicative situations: (1) immigration process at the airport, (2) using transportation, (3) handling emergency conditions, (4) understanding instructions from local authorities, (5) using public facilities, (6) hotel communication, and (7) basic transactions. This research aims to determine how effectively the joyful learning strategy, incorporating domino cards as a learning tool, enhances students’ motivation and understanding in Arabic language instruction. The study utilized a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach, specifically adopting a one-group pretest-posttest design, and involved 31 eighth-grade students from MTsN 2 in Surabaya. Data were obtained through both pretest and posttest evaluations, as well as through observation during the learning process. The statistical results demonstrated a marked improvement in student achievement, with the average score increasing from 29.42 in the pretest to 74.74 in the posttest. The Paired Sample T-Test …

This study examines the implementation of formative assessment in Arabic language learning and the role of Student Worksheets (LKS) as an evaluation tool that supports active learning at MTs Miftahussa'adah, Semarang City. The approach used is an explanatory qualitative. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation with data analysis of the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that formative assessment was implemented through collaborative activities, language skills practice (maharah), and immediate feedback. This study aims to develop a Hybrid Evaluation Model for Arabic language learning in Islamic boarding schools by integrating Wordwall gamification with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach. The innovation responds to the growing need for an evaluation system that not only measures learning outcomes but also promotes reflective, collaborative, and engaging learning experiences among students. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE framework—comprising Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation—the study involved expert validation, classroom observation, and field trials. This essay examines the constitutions of the Republic of Sudan and minority rights, with a focus on Armenians in that country. It provides (1) the demographics of Sudan; (2) an overview of the Armenians of Sudan; (3) a history of Sudan’s constitutions; (4) an analysis of their provisions and related laws on minority rights, citizenship, naturalization, and inheritance; (5) an overview of Sudan’s civil war, which began on April 15, 2023, and (6) a concluding section which analyzes risks to Armenians and other religious and ethnic minorities in Sudan.

Since its establishment in 2011, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has been tasked with protecting civilians in the context of ongoing violent conflict and political instability. The mission has recorded some important achievements, especially through the creation of Protection of Civilians (PoC) sites that have provided shelter to hundreds of thousands of displaced people. However, these gains have been accompanied by major limitations. Repeated attacks on PoC sites, continued communal violence, and the inability to prevent large-scale atrocities highlight a persistent gap between mandate and real-world implementation. By using the descriptive qualitative methodology, this research article draws data from secondary sources which includes; academic journals, news reports, as well as international legal instruments to analyze the moral trajectory of the conflict.
