The thesis exhibition, Nuff Love: From Me to You, explores the profound impact of diasporic memory on identity within the family structure, particularly for those who were born after immigration. This unpacking of memories is achieved through photographs, collages, and installations that reveal the distant and absent attributes that reside within the home. As a second-generation American of Afro-Jamaican descent, this thesis navigates how the dual identity becomes too complex and is never allowed to exist in a binary state. In the face of so many current challenges, teachers may feel overwhelmed at the thought of engaging in antiracist work, or they may be discouraged by seemingly slow progress. This article presents present a narrative of building and maintaining an antiracist research coalition across departments at our university. By grounding our work in the important work of key black scholars, we describe our process of naming whiteness, inviting collaboration, grappling with definitions, and even identifying a few small victories along the way. Collaboration with the Youth First Program of Saginaw increased students' engagement in eleventh-grade English. Students bonded with community partners, their teacher, and their peers in new ways which produced an environment of mutual respect and deeper learning. Students engaged in a debate project which garnered recognition from school administrators and community members, who were influenced to enact positive changes for the school community.

In this article, authors argue that teaching young adult Gothic novels helps secondary students reflect on social justice issues, such as racism and sexism. Trust is at a low point in American life regarding institutions in general but particularly the church. This study examined the relationship between a Southern Baptist pastor and the congregants that he serves. Specifically, a model was proposed in which perceived consistency between words and actions, perceived warmth, and perceived competence predict trust in the pastor from the congregation. To test this model, a quantitative study with a survey design was performed. A survey was created using a combination of instruments for authentic leadership, behavioral integrity, competence, warmth, and trust. Maria de Zayas, a 17th century Spanish novelist mostly known for her novella collections Amorous and Exemplary Novels (1637) and The Disenchantments of Love (1647), describes violence and deception of beautiful women at the hands of men. The Ghadar Movement was an effort by a group of overseas Indians from diverse diasporas around the Indo-Pacific region to set up an armed revolution to free India from the grip of British colonialism. This work mainly argues that Thailand was not merely functioning as a passage of the Ghadarites from abroad to return to India through its borders, but instead that different parts of the country were harboring their various clandestine and seditious missions. This article examines the Thai music iconology – with a focus on the instruments and ensembles and their symbolic representations – of monastery murals along the Mae Klong riverside. It also investigates how Thai music iconology links to broader views on Thai music, including those from Buddhism, culture, and social realms. Thirty-eight murals from the Ayutthaya period to the King Rama V period were selected for analysis. Improvised tools from Kress and Van Leeuwen’s (2020) inter-semiotic, multidimensional approach and Panosfky’s (1962) concepts of iconography were employed in the data analysis. In this research, I propose intertwined arguments regarding John Locke’s distinction between primary and secondary qualities in the Essay Concerning Human Understanding. Firstly, I will show how Locke’s distinction between primary and secondary qualities causes several problems of perception. Secondly, I demonstrate how such problems affect how we might see this distinction in a way that partially supports Kant’s concept of the thing in itself. This research paper aims to analyze a selection of visual representations regarding the offering of begging bowls to the Buddha by the four Lokapālas and their relationship to literary sources in South Asian art and discuss the significance of the story. This article reveals that these representations have always been popular in Gandhāra. In the linguistic literature on the languages of ethnic Lao in Thailand, labels such as “Lao” or “Lao Wiang” are often used to identify local dialects as Lao varieties. This study examines patterns of tonal splits and mergers in the linguistic varieties spoken by the so-called “Lao” ethnic groups in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand, to re-identify and reclassify the so called “Lao” languages collected from 124 participants at 50 locations. We build a model of the reflective equilibrium method to better understand under what conditions a community of agents would achieve a shared equilibrium. We find that, despite guaranteeing that agents individually reach equilibrium and numerous constraints on how agents deliberate, it is surprisingly difficult for a community to converge on a small number of equilibria. Consequently, the literature on reflective equilibrium has underestimated the challenge of coordinating intrapersonal convergence and interpersonal convergence.

This essay analyzes a recently discovered French play, Les esclaves livournais à Alger, authored by François Gariel in Livorno in 1786. The protagonist of the piece, which is full of allusions to contemporary Tuscan and European events and subtle references to classics of French Enlightenment literature, is a virtuous, Algiers-based Jewish merchant who preaches toleration for all peoples and religions and greatly admires the grand duke of Tuscany. Important context for understanding Gariel’s play and the Jewish question in Livorno is provided by the relocation in the 1780s of prominent Algerian Jewish families who had built their fortunes on the …

本文旨在全面呈現道家學派經典著作《莊子》中有關「孔子形象」的描述，歸納其類型與特色，進而探討與儒家學派立場不同的《莊子》一書，如何對孔子這一先賢人物作出詮釋與運用，採用寓言化書寫策略的原因為何，背後又反映出莊子及其後學的何種態度。

本文共分為五個章節，第一章梳理古今學者研究，總結學界在此問題上形成的意見看法，歸納不同的解說派別與形象類型，指出本文要解決的問題。第二章詳細呈現《莊子》中的「孔子形象」，提出自己的分類意見，將其歸納為「以儒者面貌出現的孔子」、「由儒向道的孔子」、「為道家代言的孔子」三種類型。第三章從學派立場、寫作方法兩層面切入，分析《莊子》一書呈現多元「孔子形象」的原因。第四章探討《莊子》對「孔子」的態度，主要回應司馬遷之「詆孔說」。第五章進行總結，收束全文。

過士行，1952年出生於北京，成長於傳統的圍棋世家。1979年從北京日報新聞班畢業以後，過士行成為《北京晚報》的見習記者，在責戲劇報導期間對於話劇產生濃厚興趣。過士行從1986年莎士比亞戲劇節中獲得啟發，並在話劇導演林兆華的鼓勵下開始走上創作的道路。1993年由林兆華導演的《鳥人》在北京人民藝術劇院上演，是過士行第一部面世的戲劇作品卻引起轟動。此後，過士行持續創作出聚焦於市井人物的戲劇作品，也擔任多部電視劇與電影的編劇。過士行擅於運用獨特的角度審視當代人的精神和生活狀態，揭露人在現代社會中的矛盾。

前人學者對於《鳥人》的劇本在人物形象、藝術風格、美學特徵方面都有深刻的研究，而在其主題意藴方面，則著重分析鳥人養鳥的悖論，強調人被自己的愛好所禁錮，人與鳥互為隱喻的關係。然而作品中除去鳥人與鳥之外，過士行運用不少筆墨於知識分子，而從知識分子的視角則能更深入理解鳥人的困境心理。本文將鳥人放在全球化時代背景下討論他們精神困境的原因。第一章簡述前人學者對《鳥人》的研究成果，論述將「知識分子」的角度及其所代表的西方文明引入來探尋鳥人的文化迷惘的正當性。第二章詳細解讀鳥人痴迷養鳥文化的行為，總結鳥人的異化中所體現出來的本土特徵。第三章則在第二章的基礎上分析鳥人的本土特質與全球化時代的矛盾，分析出鳥人入魔般養鳥行為的背後成因，並在解析知識分子與鳥人矛盾的符號化意義的同時引入「文明衝突論」來理解鳥人群體的痴迷與迷惘心裡。

舊新迭代之際的文人詠嘆：《名儒草堂詩餘》研究, Wenxuan Zhao

《名儒草堂詩餘》由元廬陵鳳林書院選錄宋元迭代時期詞作，集萃成書，流芳千古。其收錄詞人多活躍在該時期的江西地帶，故衆多學者認爲讀《名儒草堂詩餘》可以「溯江西詞派」，是研究「宋江西遺民群體」的關竅。

本文將從《名儒草堂詩餘》的收錄詞人與收錄詞作兩方面進行研究。首先從考證詞人群體地緣、交游關係入手，試論該群體「遺民身份」的迥異以及「遁跡經驗」的趨同，並分析收錄詞作的題材偏好以及常見詞調形式與句式，重點闡述三字領在詞作中的作用，探析詞作「發悲愁之」的主旨以及寫作之法，藉以研究詞作風格及《名儒草堂詩餘》的無雙成就。

《紅樓夢》中「通靈寶玉」與「欲」之關係, Yuet Ching Cheung

《紅樓夢》的開首是無法補天的頑石對紅塵生出欲念，想要見識榮華富貴。頑石苦求僧道後，終於獲得到紅塵走一遭的機會，幻化成通靈寶玉，與賈寶玉一同降生在賈府。通靈寶玉具一般的人欲，亦具通靈之情欲，這些特性在賈寶玉身上都有所顯現。賈寶玉對眾姐妹情深義重，可惜他的通靈之情欲為世難容。「欲」在《紅樓夢》中多有披露，可二分作淫欲與情欲，二者從金陵十二釵與賈府的富家子弟身上皆能看出。在封建禮教下，女子更淪為男性滿足生理欲望的工具。但《紅樓夢》並沒有貶斥情欲，因為所有「欲」都是人的天性，都有合理的一面。賈寶玉與通靈寶玉的靈性不被世人所理解，這種情欲也必然無法滿足，成為了全文悲劇的主軸。

作為幻境來到人間之物，通靈寶玉的作用歷來有很多爭議。然而，各家之言，皆少有聯繫通靈寶玉與欲望。故本文以通靈寶玉與「欲」的關係為題，從頑石的前生與神瑛侍者的欲望開始，看賈寶玉的通靈之性和情欲，說明通靈寶玉的通靈性與世俗性，繼而分析《紅樓夢》成為悲劇的必然，窺探通靈寶玉與「欲」密不可分的聯繫。

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและสังเคราะห์กระบวนการฝึกฝนการใช้จินตนาการในการแสดงที่จะสามารถนำไปพัฒนาและสร้างตัวละคร เอ็มม่า ในละครเพลงเรื่อง เทล มี ออน อะ ซันเดย์ (Tell Me on a Sunday) อีกทั้งเพื่อฝึกฝนและพัฒนาทักษะการร้องเพลงเพื่อนำเสนอตัวละคร เอ็มม่า ผ่านบทละครเพลงดังกล่าว โดยผู้วิจัยได้ศึกษาทฤษฎีการแสดง และฝึกซ้อมการแสดงควบคู่กับการฝึกฝนแบบฝึกหัดทางด้านการแสดงเพื่อนำไปพัฒนาและสร้างตัวละคร เอ็มม่า ซึ่งความท้าทายของละครเพลงข้างต้นคือ จะมีเพียง 1 ตัวละคร ที่นำเสนอเรื่องราวบนเวที โดยมีการพูดคุยกับตัวละครอื่นที่ไม่ปรากฏบนเวที ดังนั้นนักแสดงจึงต้องใช้จินตนาการในการแสดงอย่างมากเพื่อทำให้ผู้ชมเกิดความรู้สึกร่วม และเข้าใจว่ากำลังเกิดอะไรขึ้น วิธีการหลักที่ถูกใช้ในการพัฒนาและสร้างตัวละครในงานวิจัยนี้คือมนต์สมมติ (Magic If) โดยคอนสแตนติน สตานิสลาฟสกี (Constantin Stanislavski) ควบคู่ไปกับทฤษฎีการแสดงเกี่ยวกับการใช้จินตนาการ (Imagination) ของ สเตลลา แอดเลอร์ (Stella Adler) ผู้วิจัยได้เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยการจดบันทึก การบันทึกวิดีโอการฝึกซ้อมและการแสดง ซึ่งมีการประเมินผลหลังจากนำเสนอผลงานการแสดงแล้วโดยการเก็บรวบรวมแบบสอบถามจากผู้ชมทั้งหมด 50 ชุด การประเมินการแสดงจากอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาในรอบก่อนการแสดงจริง และมีการวิเคราะห์จากการพูดคุยจากการเสวนากับผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิหลังจบการแสดง กระบวนที่สังเคราะห์ได้คือการฝึกฝนตามลำดับดังนี้ Magic If, Given Circumstances, Super Objective และการใช้แบบฝึกหัดเข้ามาช่วยพัฒนาระหว่างการฝึกซ้อม ซึ่งผลจากการฝึกฝนตามกระบวนการที่ได้มาทำให้ผู้วิจัยสามารถทำให้ผู้ชมเชื่อในสถานการณ์ของตัวละครได้ ผู้ชมเกิดความรู้สึกร่วมไปกับเหตุการณ์ที่ตัวละครกำลังประสบอยู่ และเห็นพัฒนาการของการเปลี่ยนแปลงของตัวละครเอ็มม่า ในส่วนของผลของการฝึกฝนการร้องเพลงคือผู้วิจัยเกิดความมั่นใจในการร้องเพลงเพื่อที่จะสื่อสารเรื่องราวของตัวละครสู่ผู้ชมมากขึ้น และผู้วิจัยไม่เกิดความกังวลขณะที่กำลังแสดงอยู่เนื่องจากการฝึกฝนอย่างสม่ำเสมอก่อนการแสดงจริง
