Research has focused on the gender messages portrayed in television programs, cartoons, advertisements, literature, picture books, and fairy tales. One venue that has not received as much attention in the research is the Disney 1 full-length animated feature films. This is a qualitative study of the gender themes and portrayal of gender roles in full-length animated feature films by The Walt Disney Company. Despite a thirty-year history of campus-based women’s centers, relatively little research has been generated. Much of the research that does exist deals primarily with northeastern centers, and it exclusively focuses on the campus-based women’s centers which are professionally staffed (National Women’s Training Project 1980; Stineman 1984). Thus there is little if any research about student run/student funded centers.

The excavations at Ḥorbat Rosh Zayit were conducted following the survey of the Lower Galilee, as part of the Lower Galilee regional project, by Zvi Gal. The site’s full significance was only revealed in the excavations, which have contributed much data that enable the presentation of an historical-geographical synthesis. The rural Iron Age village of Stratum III was abandoned and a fort was established in Strat um II, at the highest spot on the hill overlooking the ‘Akko Plain. The early Byzantine period, especially the fourth–seventh centuries CE, saw the prosperity of a Christian monastic movement in South Sinai. This community was centered around Jebel Musa, which Christian tradition identified with Mt. Sinai. This study’s main aims are to present the relevant archaeological material, based on fieldwork carried out in the late 1970s, to publish all the sites defined as monastic settlements in South Sinai, and to provide a general picture of Sinai monasticism based on the archaeological data and historical sources. Historians of statistics are only beginning to understand the politics of numbers that accompanied the rise of statistical thinking in the nineteenth century. In the Russian empire, this statistical awakening opened numerous possibilities for state servitors and the intelligentsia. To officials in St. Petersburg, especially the enlightened bureaucrats who shaped the Great Reforms, statistics held out the promise of providing hard data for the development of informed policies.

For educated society, numbers had a profound impact on debates over the nature of Russia’s rural (particularly peasant) economy. Numbers provided a cloak of objectivity for polemics motivated by different visions of …
