Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers
This study will provide the reader with an exegetical analysis of Job 31: 1-7 and 35-37which explores the presence of God in the context of human suffering. Passages found elsewhere in Job will be connected to chapter 31 to elucidate the book's storyline and major themes. Lastly, a discussion of Job's theological relevance will consider the book's significance in the wider framework of the Old and New Testaments.

Teaching Ethics At The Primary Level, Joseph R. Sanok
Teaching Ethics At The Primary Level, Joseph R. Sanok
Honors Theses
Over the last century, the teaching of ethics in primary schools has changed greatly. The greatest influence upon public schools has been the shift in parents' attitudes towards teaching ethics in the school setting. Parents have progressively wanted to have more control over their child's ethical learning, thus becoming more critical of the teaching of ethics within public schools. This has led to greater input from parents. Christian ethics had long been the yardstick for ethical teachings, although in 1962 in the Engel v. Vitale case, school prayer was ruled unconstitutional, removing Christian views from the school setting. As a …

Islam And The Death Penalty, William A. Schabas
William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal
Capital punishment is not practiced by a majority of the world's states. Anti-capital punishment domestic policies have led to an international law of human rights that emphatically prohibits cruel and inhuman punishment. International concern for the abolition of capital punishment has prompted Islamic states that still endorse and practice the death penalty to respond with equally compelling concerns based on the tenets of Islamic law. Professor William A. Schabas suggests that Islamic states view capital punishment according to the principles embodied in the Koran. Islamic law functions on the belief that all people have a right to life unless the …

A Conspiracy Revealed: The Divine Conspiracy (By Willard, D.), Paul A. Johns, Steven J. Sandage
A Conspiracy Revealed: The Divine Conspiracy (By Willard, D.), Paul A. Johns, Steven J. Sandage
HDFS Educator Scholarship
When I (Paul) first obtained Willard’s book The Divine Conspiracy, I could not help but notice the attractive painting of two ripe plums on the cover. “What a nice touch,” I thought. “A fine painting—a little color, artistic shapes, and angles. It grabs my attention.” But after feasting upon the wisdom behind this finely decorated cover, I came to appreci-ate the symbolism of fruit on the tree. In The Divine Conspiracy, Willard gives maturing Christians an opportunity to reconceptualize their place in the kingdom of heaven. As a fitting completion to Willard’s wisdom-filled “trilogy on the spiritual life” (p. xvii), …
