volumes : illustrations. Began in 1976 with #1; ceased in 1993 with #17. American Splendor is a series of autobiographical comic books written by Harvey Pekar and drawn by a variety of artists. The first issue was published in 1976 and the last one in September 2008, with publication occurring at irregular intervals (Pekar died in 2010). Publishers were, at various times, Harvey Pekar himself, Dark Horse Comics, and DC Comics. In addition to R. Crumb, Pekar's most well-known and longest-running collaborators included Gary Dumm, Greg Budgett, Spain Rodriguez, Joe Zabel, Gerry Shamray, Frank Stack, Mark Zingarelli, and Joe Sacco. …

Early Mormon Woodworking At Its Best: A Study Of The Craftsmanship In The First Temples Of Utah, Thomas Weston Welch

The original intent of this paper was to examine early mormon pioneer woodworking. Upon investigation, however, it was discovered that there is one type of early utah mormon woodworking about which very little has been written and which includes some of the best efforts of these early craftsmen. This woodworking is the interior work done in the construction of the early mormon temples. This paper will attempt to document the state of early pioneer craftsmanship and show examples of this work.

Although my goal is ultimately to undersatnd Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, the emphasis of this thesis is upon ways of approaching that goal. Only the last chapter is directly about the text of that romance. In the first chapter I consider the state of the field, religion and literature, with a view to identifying my own position in it. In the second, I look at the cultural historical contexts for reading the story, specifically, the seventeenth century Puritans and the nineteenth century American romance. The writings of Gotthard Booth, M.D., especially his concept of object relation, demonstrate a change in medical thought away from a mechanistic to a holistic conception of man. His concept of the object relation and the diagnostic rationale that he developed from it reveal changes in medical conceptualization that are consistent with those changes in conceptualization across a variety of disciplines that have been identified as part of an emerging paradigm.

This thesis is a study of the impact of the Second World War on Zeeland, the most southerly maritime province of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The thesis attempts to describe life in Zeeland before the outbreak of war and then looks at the changes caused by the arrival of the Germans in may 1940. For four and a half years Zeelanders (hereafter referred to as Zeeuws) lived and worked under the yoke of German rule and oppression before exchanging that yoke for freedom. It was here that Canadians played a role.

The Sentinel and Orange and Protestant Advocate was the organ of the Orange Order in Canada and spoke for the Lodge on a wide range of social and political issues. This thesis will examine the paper’s views on moral and religious questions and the major issues at the three levels of Canadian politics between 1877 and 1896.

The Octofoil is the offical publication of the Ninth Infantry Division Association, Inc., an organization formed by the officers and men of the 9th Infantry Division in order to perpetuate the memory of fallen comrades, preserve the esprit de corps of the Division, promote peace and serve as an information bureau about the 9th Infantry Division. The Association is made up of 9th Infantry veterans from WWII and Vietnam, spouses, widows and lineal descendants.

In recent years, behavioral approaches for the treatment of essential hypertension have received considerable research attention. Biofeedback and relaxation training have been the behavioral treatments most often used for lowering high blood pressure. The present study compared the separate use of EMG and skin temperature biofeedback in treating essential hypertension, with a combined approach utilizing both types of feedback. Twenty-one hyper- tensive subjects were randomly assigned to one of the three experimental conditions: (a) EMG biofeedback, (b) skin temperature biofeedback, or (c) both EMG and skin temperature biofeedback. The Odisseia Portuguesa (Portuguese Odyssey) is an attempt to describe the adventures and search for better living abroad of a people--their pains, agonies, frustrations, anxieties, complex social, economic, psychological, linguistic and cultural experiences in a land to which immigrants now call home. Although the focus is on the Portuguese in Hudson, Massachusetts, it is safe to say that the setting could really be anywhere in any land to which they immigrate, with the exception, of course, of other lands where the culture and language are not too different (ex. Brazil...).
