Survey, Testing And Assessment Of Cultural Resources In Portions Of Willacy County Drainage District No. 1, Willacy County, Texas, Patricia A. Mercado-Allinger
Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
Two archeological projects were undertaken in the fall of 1982 by Prewitt and Associates, Inc. Both projects were authorized by the Willacy County Drainage District No. 1.
The first investigation was an archeological survey to locate, record and assess previously unknown cultural resources which potentially could be affected by proposed drainage ditch development (Main Floodway Channel) in the central county area. Field inspections of this proposed alignment detected 24 archeological sites. Fourteen of these recorded sites are classified as isolated finds which are presumed to be prehistoric . The remaining ten resources are classified as sites, six containing prehistoric materials …

Arroyo De Los Muertos And Other Prehistoric Terrace Sites Along The Rio Grande, Laredo, Texas, A. Joachim Mcgraw
Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
During early 1980, personnel from the Center for Archaeological Research, The University of Texas at San Antonio, were involved in intensive survey and limited testing operations at archaeological sites in a proposed pipeline right-of-way along the Rio Grande, Webb County, Texas. Eight terrace sites, located just south of the city of Laredo, were investigated to determine potential eligibility for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places and for selection as State Historical Landmarks. Both historic and prehistoric cultural materials were identified at these sites including the remains of two previously unrecorded prehistoric burials.

The Berger Bluff Site (41gd30a): Excavations In The Upper Deposits, 1979., David O. Brown
Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
During summer 1979, the Center for Archaeological Research conducted excavations at the Berger Bluff site (41 GO 30A) in Goliad County, Texas. The site, located on a high bluff above Coleto Creek, had been shown to be a valuable archaeological resource in previous test excavations and was potentially endangered by wave erosion from the waters of the soon to be completed Coleto Creek Reservoir. The excavations were considered necessary as a partial mitigation, under the provisions of the Texas Antiquities Code.
A single three by four meter excavation unit was opened at the site. Depth of this excavation unit varied …

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
In the summer of 1981, the second season of excavations at the Rancho de las Cabras (41 WN 30) was conducted by the Center for Archaeological Research, The University of Texas at San Antonio, for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Austin, Texas. This season included further architectural testing and stratigraphic excavations in a large trash pit located during season one, July 1980. A five by six meter area of the interior northwest corner was excavated revealing wall trenches and floors of part of a jacal complex. A more exact plan of Rancho de las Cabras was drawn, and professional …

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
An analysis of the 1982 field season activities at Rancho de las Cabras (41 WN 30) is presented in this report. Additional data concerning structural details and construction activities at the site are presented. The results of further archival research provide additional information concerning the history of the Rancho de las Cabras site, its relationship to Mission Espada, and the adjacent landowners. An expanded genealogy is presented of the Calvillo and Delgado families, both intimately connected to Rancho de las Cabras. Recommendations are made for further work at the site.
