Graduate Recital, Robert S. Frost
Graduate Recital, Robert S. Frost
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The acquisition of new skills and the further development of previous skills has always been one of the ideas behind the graduate recital. Along with new skills come the knowledge and experience necessary to affect the individual's own performance and the performance of those whom he teaches . In music education it is difficult to teach that which one has not yet experienced or mastered and the graduate recital helps to fulfill the experience requirement and give new insights into understanding all aspects of music as a listener, performer, and teacher.
The graduate recital traditionally draws its literature from all …

The candidate selected the recital and recital report as the master's project on the basis that they would effectively improve his musicianship, as well as bolster his teaching background, performance skills, teaching techniques, and general musical knowledge.
The recital included one major work on the B-flat clarinet , an alto saxophone solo, a clarinet quartet, and a woodwind trio. In addition, clarinet and saxophone solos were performed by two of the writer's advanced students. The compositions were chosen because of their musical value and variety.

A Performer's Analysis Of Eight Piano Sonatas Of Nicholas Medtner, Sarah Louise Kinley
Undergraduate Honors Thesis Collection
The piano sonatas of Nicholas Medtner are only a portion of the great heritage bequeathed to the piano by one of the most unique and significant, although relatively unknown, modern Russian composers. Medtner's personality penetrates his compositions but can be truly discovered only through considerable study of and acquaintance with his music. "But to the earnest and sincere student approaching with goodwill and sympathetic spirit, this music will yield treasures of grave and sad, but great and most moving, beauty.

An Experiment In Orchestration: Prelude An Original Composition For Symphonic Band, Melvin Edvalson
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
From ancient times to the present, music has been composed for instrumental combinations as well as for single instruments. The manner in which these combinations were utilized depended upon current compositional practices, especially those regarding form. In the Baroque Period instrumental ensembles were formed according to the composer's discretion. The tone color embodiment of a particular musical work was set more by the composer's choice of instruments to be included in the ensemble than in his use of instruments as independent tone color sources . The Baroque composer's use of instrumental color was in this way consistent with his use …
Visions Infernales: Characteristics Of Style And Interpretation, George F. Skipworth
Visions Infernales: Characteristics Of Style And Interpretation, George F. Skipworth
All Master's Theses
Visions Infernales by the French composer Henri Sauguet is a song cycle for the bass voice with piano accompaniment set to a text by the twentieth-century poet, }fax Jacob. This composition, published in France in 1950, is contemporary in style with considerable dissonance, and therefore is probably not well known in this country. However, student and professional should become more familiar with the style characteristics and performance of modern repertoire.

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The song cycle, Frauenliebe und-leben, by Robert Alexander Schumann was selected to be performed in recital and for purposes of this recital report.
Several objectives were to be accomplished in writing this paper. In addition, an analysis of each of the eight songs in the cycle was undertaken to enable the performer and listener to have better technical understanding of the musical ideas invoked by …
