We aim to study the effect of point source on the propagation of horizontally polarised shear wave in a magnetoelastic self-reinforced layer lying over a heterogeneous self-reinforced half-space. The heterogeneity in the half-space has been considered due to quadratic variation in rigidity. Using the Green’s function method based on algebraic transformations, we have obtained the relation showing the dependence of phase velocity of the shear wave. The solution part of the problem involves the perturbation approach. The dispersion curves have been obtained for different values of magnetoelastic and inhomogeneity parameters. L’Aquila earthquake was a complex seismic event characterized by its main shock on 6th April 2009 with magnitude Mw=6.3 and many foreshocks and aftershocks that stroke the whole Aterno River Valley from November 2008 up to September 2009. An overview of the geotechnical aspects of the building damage in the 2011 Tohoku Pacific earthquake is presented, based on field reconnaissance made after the quake. It is shown that: (1) Extensive soil liquefaction occurred along the coast of Tokyo Bay and around the Tonegawa River floodplain. A 73-km East-West Coastal Highway that traverses six major rivers within the Mangrove and Coastal Hydro-meteorological Zones of the Niger Delta is to be built. The total number of river crossings along the five intervening sections of this road is 36.The Niger Delta Sub-region lies at the southern-most portion of Nigeria.
