Faith, Justice, And Language: Equipping Christian Teachers For Linguistically Sustaining Pedagogies, Grace Inae Blum

This essay argues that Christian teacher educators must integrate linguistically sustaining pedagogies into teacher preparation as a faithful response to God’s call to justice, love, and hospitality. In classrooms shaped by increasing linguistic diversity, these practices move beyond accommodating multilingual learners to affirming and sustaining their linguistic and cultural identities. The essay begins by clarifying key concepts (Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, Linguistically Responsive Teaching, and Translanguaging) and exploring their intersections with faith-based commitments. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Qualitative data were obtained from 8 principals at the primary school level in Sleman Regency whose schools have teachers who are graduates and non-graduates of the teacher leadership education program. Early childhood educators are expected to teach social emotional learning (SEL) in their classrooms, while educators themselves are in need of SEL as much as their students due to stress and burnout in this occupation being at an all-time high. We ran a small pilot study of a mindfulness, audio-based SEL tool (Moshi) to see whether brief daily use leads to easier implementation of SEL in the classroom and, in turn, relates to better educator well-being. The purpose of this research was to assess students' grit levels and examine how they relate to academic performance. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian evaluatif yang bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di sekolah dasar Kecamatan Bulupoddo, Kabupaten Sinjai, menggunakan model evaluasi CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan wawancara dengan kepala sekolah, guru kelas, dan guru mata pelajaran, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada evaluasi Context, pelaksanaan kurikulum operasional satuan pendidikan sudah baik, meskipun beberapa aspek memerlukan perbaikan. Usia sekolah dasar adalah fase kritis dalam perkembangan moral dan sosial anak. Tanpa pengembangan pemahaman multikultural yang sistematis, anak akan kehilangan peluang membentuk dasar toleransi yang kuat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan profil pemahaman multikultural dan sikap toleransi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi cross-sectional dengan analisis kuantitatif. This study investigated the effectiveness of an Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) module in electrochemistry for engineering students. Students' conceptual knowledge and problem-solving abilities were assessed using a quasi-experimental design that included pre-and post-tests. The experimental group used the OBE module, while the control group received traditional instruction. Statistical tests, including t-tests and correlation analysis, established the module's impact. The post-test scores of the experimental group differed significantly from those of the control group. Faculty and student assessments verified the module's effectiveness in content quality, instructional approach, and learning effectiveness.
