Equal Employment Team Project, Jing Zhang 2019 California State University, San Bernardino

Equal Employment Team Project, Jing Zhang

Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy

Equal employment opportunity (EEO) is a key chapter in any human resources management books. Unequal employment treatment is prevalent. In 2018, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission received 554,000 calls and emails concerning potential discrimination claims. Since most students do not have unequal employment experience, it is critical to find some ways to allow students to see how others suffered from unequal employment treatment and think about how to avoid such behaviors. The team project encourages students to find EEO related cases and discuss the implications to the business in a presentation.

  4. Success criteria should be defined and stakeholders’ participation ensured before choosing evaluation measures.

External And Internal Networks And Access To Hrd Resources In Small Professional Service Firms, Ciara Nolan Dr, Thomas Garavan

Articles

A key challenge facing small professional service firms (PSFs) in the context of implementing human resource development (HRD) is access to resources. The use of external and internal networks represents an important means of identifying and acquiring needed resources. We utilize resource dependency and network theories to explore the types of networks used by owner-managers to acquire HRD resources and the types of resources that are acquired. We investigate these issues utilizing three case study organizations located in the Republic of Ireland and interview data from owner-managers and employees. We found that small PSFs derived resources from both coercive and …

Factors related to these phenomena are characterized and examined via literature review and mixed methodology analysis to compare and contrast potential ways to manage brain drain and even achieve positive "brain gain" through individual and business-oriented strategies and policy alternatives.

To measure the dimensions, we conducted a survey of 260 graduate and undergraduate students working in project teams at a large Southwestern university. We found that a psychologically safe environment enabled team members to perform task-oriented and relation-oriented tasks. However, only relation-oriented shared leadership positively influenced team creativity. Based on our findings, we provided research and practical implications, as well as study limitations and future …

A Research Study On The Impact Management Have On Employee Engagement In A Manufacturing Company, Alice Murphy

Theses

The purpose of this paper is to discover can management have an impact on employee engagement. Many companies put millions into creating the best fit policies for their organization without focusing on management behaviour and how it affects employees alone. Leadership theories have evolved over the years and will continue to change from generation to generation. The evolving term of the meaning of 'leadership' suggests to the researcher that there will never be enough studies done in this field. Despite the vast amount of research done, there seems to be a paucity in the area of leadership in the manufacturing …

The aim of this research study was to explore what personality traits project managers need to lead a project team effectively. To accomplish this, we employed the Big Five Personality® and the 1/11 Myers-Briggs (MBTI®) personality assessments to identify favorable personality traits and characteristics when managing projects.
