At the request of the San Antonio Water System (SAWS), an intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Pape-Dawson for the proposed Westlakes Water Main project located partially within the City of San Antonio in Bexar County, Texas. The project will entail the installation of approximately 5.2 miles (8.4 kilometers) of new water line. Two tie-ins as well as a segment of the main alignment that crosses Loop 1604 will be bored beneath the roadways while the remainder of the line will be laid out in a trench and backfilled. The development of the pipeline ROW will be privately funded and will not require any federal permitting or coordination. However, it is located entirely on land owned by the University of Texas (UT Land). In early 2017, Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc. (MAC) conducted archeological monitoring of mechanical scraping at site 41LB42 located on Capers Ridge in Liberty County, Texas. This action was done to offset adverse effects associated with impending pipeline installation as part of the larger Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project (LBITP), a Coastal Water Authority (CWA) infrastructure undertaking that will transport freshwater from the lower Trinity River to Lake Houston. Previously survey, testing and data recovery by MAC identified high density, high integrity finds situated on the summits of three small knolls found within 41LB42. North Texas Municipal Water District is planning the Plano Eastside Pipeline Replacement project in Collin County, Texas. The proposed project consists of replacing approximately 8,000 linear feet (2,438 meters) of waterline along the west side of Shiloh Road. Much of the line will be replaced within existing easements and in parking lots and entrances associated with commercial developments between Renner Road and 14th Street, and along Del Sol Drive. However, a few segments will require new easements. These segments total approximately 570 meters and are the only sections in need of an intensive pedestrian survey, although they parallel existing utilities. …

AR Consultants, Inc. was contracted to conduct a cultural resource survey, which included archival research, to determine the presence of prehistoric and historic archaeological sites along the route and make recommendations about eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and State Antiquities Landmark (SAL) designation.
