La nueva Constitución del Ecuador -elaborada en Montecristi y aprobada mediante plebiscito en el año 2008- estableció el camino que se debía seguir para la aprobación de los Distritos Metropolitanos Autónomos en el país. Primero, señaló que para asumir esa condición se debería contar con al menos un 7 por ciento de la población nacional; segundo, que sus competencias serían la suma de las atribuciones regionales, provinciales y cantonales; y tercero, que para llegar a esta condición se debía contar con una Ley y un Estatuto de autonomía por cada jurisdicción. Current sprawl development patterns typical of contemporary development in the United States are unsustainable. The uniform development guidelines prevent context sensitive community design, degrading our communities and consuming large amounts of natural and cultural resources. Significant progress has been made in reorganizing community planning towards sustainable development practices. However, these alternatives still work under the misconception that there is a disconnect between planning open space networks and planning development. Through a comprehensive land use planning approach, this project explores combining concepts of landscape ecology, green infrastructure planning and conservation subdivision patterns to design an integrative open space/community network.

The research examined gender participation in the management of tricycle for youth empowerment and sustainable development in Kano state, Nigeria. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select samples of drivers(150), passengers (150) and owners/managers the female tricycle owners fell under this category and they numbered(65).All together a total of 365 samples were selected for the study. Data obtained from the primary data was analyzed using simple statistical techniques and chi square test to ascertain whether there was any significant differences in some of the variables tested. The City of San Joaquin 2040 Community Plan was prepared by a group of 15 Graduate Students and one professor in the City and Regional Planning Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, between September 2010 and March 2011. The Plan, which embodies seven months of research on the existing conditions and future direction for the City of San Joaquin, California, was completed as a component of the graduate degree requirements to obtain a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from the University. Introduction:Following the eruption of Mount St. Helens on May 18th 1980, the ecosystem of Spirit Lake was dramatically altered and, since then, there has been a significant increase in the amount of primary productivity in the south end of the lake. The focus of this research is to identify land cover types surrounding Spirit Lake which, in the future, could be used to identify possible nutrient point sources flowing into surface waters entering the lake. The watershed pouring into the lake is covered by nitrogen-fixing vegetation that could potentially be contributing to the increased productivity. The work completed for …
