Ted’s House, named after the previous owner, is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan at 826 Vine Place. The house is now owned by the non-profit Old House Network, which is using the house for educational classes on old house repairs. The house is currently in an interior demolition and structural stabilization phase. The roof and porches were replaced in 2012. In the interior, most of the walls have had the plaster or dry wall removed exposing the studs. This report was written as my final project for Master Program in Historic Preservation. Model For Consolidation Analysis Of Layered Soils Under Depth-Dependent Loading, Hefu Pu, Patrick J. Fox

A numerical model is presented for one-dimensional large strain consolidation of a layered soil stratum. The algorithm accounts for vertical strain, soil self-weight, conventional constitutive relationships, changing material properties during consolidation, unload/reload, time-dependent loading and boundary conditions, an externally applied hydraulic gradient, and multiple soil layers with different material properties. The model can also accommodate depth-dependent loading and variable preconsolidation stress profiles. Verification checks of the model show excellent agreement with available analytical and numerical solutions for consolidation of soils with multiple layers and depth-dependent loading. การศึกษาวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาวัสดุปูพื้นในโครงการคอมมูนิตี้มอลล์ ในเรื่องสภาพทั่วไป ขั้นตอนการดูแลรักษา และปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้น โดยการรวบรวมข้อมูล จากการสำรวจ สังเกตการณ์ ถ่ายภาพ และสัมภาษณ์ผู้ดูแลโครงการ และเลือกคอมมูนิตี้มอลล์โครงการเควิลเลจ เดอะไนน์เนเบอร์ฮู้ด เสนาเฟส พอร์โตชิโน่ ศาลายามอลล์ และท่ามหาราช เป็นกรณีศึกษา เพราะบริษัทผู้ดูแลโครงการเป็นบริษัทเดียวกัน จากการศึกษาพบวัสดุปูพื้นหลายชนิด ได้แก่ ซีเมนต์ขัดหยาบ ซีเมนต์ขัดมัน คอนกรีตพิมพ์ลาย หินขัด กรวดล้าง ทรายล้าง กระเบื้องเซรามิค หินแกรนิต ไม้ธรรมชาติ และไม้เทียม ซึ่งแต่ละโครงการมีการใช้วัสดุปูพื้นหลายชนิด วัสดุปูพื้นที่พบบริเวณทางรถยนต์และลานจอด คือ ซีเมนต์ขัดหยาบ บริเวณทางเดินและพื้นที่ภายนอกอาคาร คือ ซีเมนต์ขัดมัน คอนกรีตพิมพ์ลาย กรวดล้าง และกระเบื้องเซรามิค บริเวณทางเดินและพื้นที่กึ่งภายนอกอาคาร คือ กระเบื้องเซรามิคและคอนกรีตพิมพ์ลาย ในพื้นที่กว้างพบพื้นคอนกรีตพิมพ์ลาย และในพื้นที่เล็กพบพื้นไม้ธรรมชาติและไม้เทียม นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าวัสดุพื้นประเภทหินขัดและกระเบื้องเซรามิค มีสภาพดีมาก ซึ่งอยู่ในสภาพที่สะอาด ไม่ชำรุดแตกร้าวหรือแตกหัก คอนกรีตพิมพ์ลายและซีเมนต์ขัดมัน มีสภาพดี อยู่ในสภาพที่สะอาดปานกลาง มีการแตกร้าวบ้างบางส่วน และกรวดล้างและทรายล้าง มีสภาพพอใช้ อยู่ในสภาพที่พบการแตกร้าวและหลุดร่อน ส่วนในด้านการดูแลรักษาที่แบ่งออกเป็นงานประจำวัน ประจำสัปดาห์ ประจำเดือน สามเดือนและหกเดือนนั้น พบว่าวัสดุที่มีรอบการดูแลรักษาน้อย คือ ซีเมนต์ขัดหยาบ กรวดล้าง ทรายล้างและไม้เทียม วัสดุที่ต้องมีการดูแลรักษาปานกลาง คือ ซีเมนต์ขัดมัน หินขัด และกระเบื้อง และวัสดุที่ต้องมีการดูแลรักษามาก คือ ไม้ธรรมชาติ หินแกรนิต และคอนกรีตพิมพ์ลาย ซึ่งเมื่อใช้งานไปแล้ว สภาพของวัสดุจะเปลี่ยนแปลง มีคราบสกปรก วัสดุเสียหายจากการใช้งานและเสื่อมสภาพ ทำให้ต้องมีการดูแลรักษาเพิ่มขึ้น กล่าวโดยสรุปแล้ว วัสดุปูพื้นในคอมมูนิตี้มอลล์ที่พบ 10 ชนิดจาก 6 โครงการ มีการใช้งานแตกต่างกันตามลักษณะความนิยม จากการพบเห็นและจากปริมาณพื้นที่ใช้งาน ตามลักษณะการใช้งานที่ส่งผลต่อภาพลักษณ์ของโครงการ และตามลักษณะขั้นตอนการทำงานดูแลรักษา

The concept of the Smart City has recently been introduced to help make urban planning in Chiang Mai more effective. In particular, the Smart City idea is being integrated with Geographical InformationSystems (GIS) and Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs ) to support better decision- making. This paper employs GIS-based ICTs as a means for updating the land use database of the Public Work and Town & Country Planning within the Chiang Mai Comprehensive Plan Boundary between 2000 and 2015. The canals of Bangkok were a vital form of infrastructure from when the city was founded in 1782 until the 1850s, when the road system was introduced. Built for agricultural irrigation, the canals served as the primary means of transportation and significantly influenced the form and orientation of Bangkok’s early settlements and public institutions. These cities were once called aquatic cities, Bangkok was also known as the "Venice of the East" due to its extraordinary relationship with water. The study will analyses the transitional period of change from water-based to land-based cities using the surveyed and published maps in city's scale that were generated for the first time in Thailand in 1960. In 1887 the French ecclesiastic-cum-architect, Bishop Alphonse Favier, negotiated the construction of Beijing’s most extravagant church, the North Church cathedral, located near the Forbidden City. China was then under a semi-colonial occupation of missionaries and diplomats, and Favier was an icon of France’s mission civilisatrice. For missionaries such as Favier, Gothic church design represented the inherent caractère Français expected to “civilize” the Chinese empire. Having secured funds from the imperial court to build his ambitious Gothic cathedral, the French bishop enlisted local builders to realize his architectural vision, which consisted of Gothic arches, exaggerated finials, and a rose widow with …
