Affluent families and individuals of the 19th century had many architectural styles to choose from when building their home and it was important to choose the correct one, as each one would convey a different message to the public. Arnoldus Vanderhorst Brumby (1809-1887), the superintendent for the Georgia Military Institute between the years 1851 and 1858, chose the Greek Revival style for his house overlooking the Georgia Military Institute, now known as Brumby Hall. The William Root House is one of Marietta's oldest remaining structures. It has undergone several structural and location changes, making it an important part of the city's historic heritage. The building has been analyzed and documented for structural element changes, as well as material and painting analyses. However, no analysis of the events that contributed to its proportional change has been conducted today. In this study, we look at some of the reasons for the William Root house's size changes, from its initial construction to its final rezoning on Polk Street.

Natural gas leaks have long been a leading cause for fires in homes and commercial buildings. However, these issues still continue to happen at a rate that gas companies should not be proud of. Having been formed in the mid 1830’s, the city of Marietta survived through some of the most tumultuous times in the country - through the formation of a booming railroad industry, a war of a country with itself, the burning of a city, and the redevelopment of a city after the war. One building in Marietta -The Kennesaw House- survived through all this and still stands today to tell the story. The building belonged to one of the very few Union families in the South.

Bruce Stephenson earned a BA in history from Florida Southern College and a Master in city planning from Ohio State University.  He worked as land use planner for Pinellas County, Florida before receiving a PhD from Emory University.  His dissertation unveiled John Nolen’s 1923 plan for St. Petersburg, Florida’s first comprehensive city plan, and centered Stephenson's first book, Visions of Eden.

Despite the large number of children with disabilities, there is no research focused on the experience that families with a child who has a disability have while at theme parks. Utilizing surveys and semi-structured interviews, this mixed-methods study explored the experiences of these families, specifically looking at accessibility and participation within the theme park environment. Thirty-seven parents/guardians completed the online survey, while ten individuals also elected to participate in the semi-structured interviews. Results of the study revealed that families are driven to visit theme parks by a want for connectedness. The positives of theme parks include the staff/cast members and …

The original St. James Episcopal Church was built primarily from wood framing and paneling covered over in stucco. Unfortunately, a fire broke out from the boiler room of Old St. James and destroyed much of the original building, primarily burning out the roof, and doing a great deal of damage to the walls and tower. Following the fire, St. James was re-built with the same footprint, as the wood framing of the walls was too charred by the fire to be repaired.

This case report demonstrates a patient who presents with typical findings for a diagnosis of NSTEMI. Upon further evaluation, this diagnosis was able to be ruled out. Presentations and labs consistent with NSTEMI masked the true diagnosis of aortic stenosis due to oxygen supply/demand mismatch.

Many barriers, such as financial support and lack of knowledge for housing-related professionals, can prevent this population from participating in home occupations. The project developed educational products, including the universal design housing experience booklet, universal design housing checklist, and universal design blueprints. This research is aimed at investigating the f~asibility of implementing natural fibers, such as hemp fibers, in lieu of synthetic fibers as sustainable and environmentally friendly resources in concrete production. In the first stage of this study, a surface treatment was applied to hemp fibers 12 mm± 2 mm in length using a 5 wt% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution to determine the effect treated hemp fibers have on cementitious composites. Additionally, three cement mortars were made with different fiber ratios (0.75%, 1.5%, 3%) to determine the optimal hemp fiber content of the mortars.
