Conventional sizing methods for electric machines often result in large dimensions, excessive weight, even when following correct design principles. In this paper promising Giant Trevally Optimizer “GTO” is employed as a swarm intelligence-based optimization algorithm inspired by the social behavior of giant trevally, to design a three-phase wound rotor induction machine “3WRIM”. The optimization process targets four key objectives: maximizing efficiency , and minimizing weight per kilowatt “ ”, temperature rise , and the no-load current to phase current ratio . This study examines the effectiveness of prefabricated ultra-high-performance fiberreinforced concrete (UHPFRC) laminates in shear strengthening reinforced concrete (RC) beams. A total of nine reinforced concrete beams were cast and tested under a four-point loading till failure. The following key parameters were investigated: the number of strengthening sides, the thickness of the UHPFRC layer, the reinforcement of the strengthening layer (by using two different types of steel mesh, and also, in case of no-steel mesh), the volume fraction of steel fibers, and bonding schemes steel dowels and / or epoxy. The present study investigates the psychological impact of lighting color on spatial impressions within indoor settings, drawing on Mehrabian and Russell’s PAD model. The purpose of this study is to explore potential variations in spatial impressions, encompassing affectivity, tranquility, and thermality, across six different lighting colors (i.e., red, green, blue, yellow, orange, and purple). A controlled laboratory experiment was conducted with 101 participants, utilizing a color-changing LED lighting fixture to expose participants to actual lighting conditions rather than simulated images. To determine whether thin glass constructions can pass Z97 impact test to qualify as safety glass an extensive protocol was performed. Constructions including monolithic, chemically strengthened, filmed, laminated, and triple pane insulated glass units comprised of thin glass ranging in thickness between 0.50 mm and 1.6mm were evaluated. Test results indicate annealed specimens, and laminated specimens performed similar to constructions with 3 mm and 6 mm glass. Specimens with 0.2 mm film consistently performed as safety glass for thicknesses between 0.7 mm and 1.6 mm and similar performance for specimens with 0.1 mm film with thickness of 1.1 mm and …

There was very much a North/South divide in the existence of the disease in that period, with countries across South America, Africa and Asia recording the majority of cases. In 1966 the World Health Organization launched an intensive effort to finally eliminate the disease. The last known endemic case of smallpox was reported in Somalia in 1977, and that outbreak was promptly contained. Tax collection was one of the core preoccupations of the colonial government in Tanganyika (now Tanzania) and other colonies in the Africa that persisted even after independence. Direct taxation formed the basis of colonial taxation in Tanganyika. Head tax was a dominant form of direct taxation with its burden being borne primarily by Africans. This article uses the colonial Njombe District of Tanganyika to explore the responses of the African taxpayers to the head tax.
