Background: Interaction with occupation-centered activities, such as gardening, is associated with improved mental health. With limited evidence supporting the effects of short-term nature-based interventions on employees’ emotional states, the purpose of this research was to understand the impact of a one-time, short-term nature-based intervention on the emotional state of employees at an urban office building.

Method: This pretest/posttest design study used a visual analogue emoticon assessment tool, the Interaction with Nature scale, to measure differences in the participants’ emotional states before and after participating in a planting activity. As the world becomes more urbanized, neighborhood parks are becoming an increasingly important venue where people engage in physical and social activities. Using park-use data collected by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the aim of this study is to account for park use in light of park attributes and neighborhood conditions. The role of the built environment near a park receives particular attention as it is understudied in the literature. Temporary appropriation (TA) is a re-emerging concept which occurs in the urban social landscape as a multidimensional phenomenon. Intended as multi-disciplinary and multi-scalar research, the present paper explores the way in which temporary appropriation could be interpreted as an assemblage product of other assemblages within the urban landscape. It, therefore, seeks to unravel and to re-think the nature of temporary appropriation through interconnected theoretical frameworks such as assemblage theory. Socio-economically underprivileged urban communities might suffer from restricted access to urban forests. Environmental injustice research on urban greenery in Asian cities is lacking. Public housing estates in Hong Kong, accommodating low-income households and over half of the 7.45 million population, were investigated for injustice in tree provision. Two clustering schemes used socio-economic and ecological characteristics to classify 93 estates. Factor analysis of 14 socio-economic variables identified four factors related to deprivation, namely ageing population, overcrowding, working poor with high academic qualifications, and marginalised language minorities. Trees offer a range of ecosystem services and remain important in providing human benefits. However, emerging literature questions the long-accepted view of trees being able to improve air quality in urban parks. The aerodynamic effect of trees was identified as a major reason for the change of pollutant distribution in near-road parks, where trees can act as porous barriers and cause localised concentration increase. ภูมิทัศน์แม่น้ำเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของภูมิทัศน์ที่มีสายน้ำเป็นศูนย์กลาง โดยแม่น้ำเป็นสายน้ำที่ไหลตามพื้นผิวโลกมีความสำคัญต่อวิถีชีวิตบกและน้ำ ซึ่งพลวัตของน้ำส่งผลต่อแม่น้ำทำให้เกิดความหลากหลายของผลผลิตที่มนุษย์สามารถใช้ประโยชน์ก่อให้เกิดความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์และนิเวศบริการ การวิจัยมุ่งเน้นที่ชุมชนบ้านดอนชัยสักทองซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในลุ่มแม่น้ำยมตอนบนของประเทศไทย เป็นชุมชนดั้งเดิมที่มีวิถีชีวิตผูกพันกับภูมิทัศน์แม่น้ำ วัตถุประสงค์ของการศึกษานี้ เพื่อจำแนกองค์ประกอบและปัจจัยที่ทำให้เกิดภูมิทัศน์แม่น้ำยมตอนบนและการรับรู้สภาพแวดล้อมที่นำมาสู่การวิเคราะห์ทัศนียภาพ โดยกระบวนการวิจัยประกอบไปด้วย การสอบถามมุขปาฐะ การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลสารสนเทศทางภูมิศาสตร์และการตีความทัศนียภาพจากภาพถ่ายที่เป็นเครื่องมือแสดงองค์ความรู้ทางนิเวศวิทยาของแม่น้ำยมตอนบนจากการตีความภาพ ผลการวิจัยพบว่าการเปรียบเทียบองค์ประกอบทางกายภาพของท้องถิ่นแม่น้ำยมตอนบนเกิดจากการรับรู้สภาพแวดล้อมของมนุษย์ ซึ่งจากลักษณะภูมิทัศน์ที่แตกต่างกันทำให้เกิดนิเวศบริการทางวัฒนธรรมที่หลากหลาย ได้แก่ ความเชื่อ ความรู้ในการใช้งานทรัพยากร การดำรงชีพและบรรทัดฐาน ที่อธิบายความสัมพันธ์ของการวิเคราะห์ทัศนียภาพ ในผลสรุปจากทัศนียภาพแสดงลักษณะภูมิทัศน์ที่โดดเด่น คือ หาดและแก่ง ที่สร้างให้เกิดความเข้าใจและอนุรักษ์ และใช้เป็นฐานข้อมูลในการวางแผนการใช้ประโยชน์ภูมิทัศน์แม่น้ำยมตอนบน

ปัจจุบันการศึกษาเกี่ยวกับภูมิทัศน์ธรรมชาติในฐานะที่มีส่วนในการช่วยฟื้นฟูจิตใจและส่งเสริมสุขภาวะนั้นเป็นที่ยอมรับในแวดวงวิชาการทั้งในประเทศไทยและต่างประเทศ สำหรับวิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบภูมิทัศน์ธรรมชาติที่สามารถส่งเสริมความรู้สึกถึงการฟื้นคืนพลังจากความเหนื่อยล้าทางจิตใจ จากการบูรณาการแนวคิดและทฤษฏีทางจิตวิทยาสภาพแวดล้อมในทฤษฎีฟื้นฟูความใส่ใจ (The Attention Restoration Theory: ART) เข้ากับองค์ความรู้ทางภูมิสถาปัตยกรรม ซึ่งคือแนวความคิดเรื่องความพึงพอใจต่อภูมิทัศน์ (Landscape preference) ทั้งนี้กระบวนการวิจัยคือการประยุกต์นำเครื่องมือมาตรวัดทางจิตวิทยาเข้ามาใช้ทดสอบ และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการทางสถิติเพื่อศึกษาคุณสมบัติในการส่งเสริมความรู้สึกถึงฟื้นคืนพลังของภูมิทัศน์ธรรมชาติ 3 แบบคือ ภูมิทัศน์ป่า ภูมิทัศน์ทุ่งหญ้า และภูมิทัศน์ริมน้ำ และความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างระดับความเหนื่อยล้าทางจิตใจกับทัศนคติต่อภูมิทัศน์ธรรมชาติด้านการส่งเสริมความรู้สึกถึงการฟื้นคืนพลังจากความเหนื่อยล้าทางจิตใจ เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการออกแบบภูมิทัศน์ให้สามารถรองรับการปรับตัวต่อปัญหาสุขภาพจิตได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพในสังคมต่อไป ผลการวิจัยสรุปว่า ลักษณะภูมิทัศน์ที่มีคุณสมบัติดีที่สุดในการส่งเสริมความรู้สึกถึงการฟื้นคืนพลัง คือ ภูมิทัศน์ริมน้ำ และองค์ประกอบภูมิทัศน์ที่มีคุณสมบัติที่ดีที่สุดคือ ต้นไม้ใหญ่ทรงร่มที่อยู่ริมน้ำ สำหรับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความเหนื่อยล้าทางจิตใจกับความรู้สึกถึงการฟื้นคืนพลังในภูมิทัศน์แต่ละแบบนั้นยังไม่ชัดเจน แต่บางองค์ประกอบภูมิทัศน์ที่คัดเลือกมาใช้เป็นตัวแทนในการทดสอบมีความสัมพันธ์กับระดับความเหนื่อยล้าทางจิตใจอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ นอกจากนี้การศึกษายังพบว่า นอกจากองค์ประกอบที่มีคุณภาพที่ดีแล้ว การจัดองค์ประกอบยังมีความสำคัญต่อการส่งเสริมความรู้สึกถึงการฟื้นคืนพลังอีกด้วย

โครงการสวนเกษตรดาดฟ้า (Rooftop Urban Agriculture : RA) เป็นวิธีการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการผลิตอาหาร บนอาคารในพื้นที่เมืองใหญ่ต่าง ๆ ทั่วโลก มีรูปแบบการปฏิบัติ ผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้อง จุดมุ่งหมาย แนวทางการออกแบบ และประโยชน์ที่แตกต่างกัน งานวิจัยนี้ศึกษาการออกแบบ และประโยชน์ของโครงการสวนเกษตรดาดฟ้าที่เกิดขึ้นในพื้นที่กรุงเทพมหานคร ประกอบด้วย (1) ศูนย์การเรียนรู้ห้องเรียนธรรมชาติ สวนเกษตรดาดฟ้า เขตหลักสี่ (2) ศูนย์เรียนรู้สุขภาวะ สำนักงานกองทุนสนับสนุนการสร้างเสริมสุขภาวะ (3) สวนผักดาดฟ้าคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ (4) โครงการพักอาศัย คอนโดมีเนียม ออนิกซ์ พหลโยธิน โดย ศึกษาเนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวข้อง เก็บข้อมูล คัดเลือก และสำรวจพื้นที่ศึกษา สอบถามข้อมูลบุคคลากรที่เกี่ยวข้อง วิเคราะห์ และเปรียบเทียบข้อมูลที่ได้ในเชิงข้อคำนึงในการออกแบบ และประโยชน์ที่เกิดขึ้น โดยใช้หลักการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน ซึ่งประกอบด้วย สังคม สิ่งแวดล้อม และเศรษฐกิจ ผลการวิจัยพบว่าโครงการสวนเกษตรดาดฟ้าในกรุงเทพมหานคร แบ่งได้เป็น สวนเกษตรดาดฟ้าที่ออกแบบมาพร้อมกับอาคาร และที่ต่อเติมในภายหลัง โดยประเด็นสำคัญในการพิจารณาพื้นที่โครงการ ประกอบด้วย การเข้าถึงที่สะดวกเพื่อการดูแลในระยะยาว มีการกันลม และพรางแสงที่ดี สอดรับกับการใช้งานของตัวอาคาร ในเรื่องการก่อสร้าง สวนที่มีการออกแบบพร้อมกับตัวอาคารจะมีความสะดวกในการใช้งาน แต่สวนที่ต่อเติมในภายหลัง ก็เป็นตัวอย่างของนวัตกรรมการเพาะปลูกน้ำหนักเบาที่สามารถนำไปปรับใช้ได้ ในด้านองค์ประกอบ ควรพิจารณาความเหมาะสมของภาพแวดล้อมอาคาร และพืชพรรณชนิดต่าง ๆ ประกอบด้วย พืชผักระยะสั้น ไม้พุ่มขนาดเล็ก ไม้เลื้อย ไม้ต้นขนาดเล็ก ไม้ดอก วิธีการปลูกที่เหมาะสมกับขนาด และโครงสร้างอาคาร ในด้านการบำรุงรักษา ผู้จัดการโครงการจะต้องมีองค์ความรู้ในการบำรุงดิน การรดน้ำ การควบคุมคุณภาพผลผลิต และศัตรูพืชที่เหมาะสมกับพื้นที่ดาดฟ้า ประโยชน์ด้านสังคมที่พบโดยเด่นชัดที่สุด คือ การเป็นพื้นที่การเรียนรู้ในเรื่องการเกษตรให้คนเมือง เข้าใจที่มาของอาหาร และการเป็นพื้นที่ส่วนกลางที่แสดงอัตลักษณ์ของชุมชน ประโยชน์ด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม คือ การสร้างสภาพแวดล้อมที่ดี ทั้งในเรื่องความหลากหลายระบบนิเวศและพืชพรรณ การพัฒนาคุณภาพอากาศ การลดความร้อน การชะลอน้ำฝนในระดับเมืองจนถึงอาคาร ด้านเศรษฐกิจ เป็นประโยชน์ที่ต่อเนื่องจากด้านอื่น ๆ ทั้งการลดลงของค่าใช้จ่ายในการขนส่งอาหาร ราคาอาหาร ค่าใช้ของจ่ายอาคารและครัวเรือน การเพิ่มตำแหน่งงาน การสร้างภาพลักษณ์ที่ดีให้กับหน่วยงาน และเพิ่มการตระหนักถึงศักยภาพทางเศรษฐกิจของพื้นที่ดาดฟ้าบนอาคารในเมือง

These spaces are created when elevated freeways carve through dense city centers.
