Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) occurs in about 1-3% of the pediatric population, but many do not respond to standard therapies. Riluzole, a glutamate antagonist, has shown to be an effective treatment for refractory OCD in adults, however few trials have been conducted to show the effectiveness of Riluzole in children to treat refractory OCD. The study investigates the potential use of riluzole in children to treat refractory OCD.

Bullous pemphigoid is the most common autoimmune blistering disease. Classic symptoms include blisters overlying urticarial plaques on the torso and extremities. The condition can result in intense pruritus that begins during the prodromal period.

Excoriation disorder is related to obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and is characterized by recurrent skin picking that results in lesions, repeated attempts to stop or decrease the picking, and resultant mental distress or impairment in functioning.

Opioids exert their abuse-related effects by enhancing dopamine (DA) neurotransmission within the brain’s mesolimbic reward system, a neural projection involving DA neurons in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) that project to medium spiny neurons within the nucleus accumbens (NAc). Mu (MOR) are expressed by several populations of GABAergic neurons that tonically inhibit VTA DA neurons. By inhibiting these GABAergic neurons in a MOR-dependent manner, opioids indirectly enhance DA neurotransmission via disinhibition of DAergic neurons. This research explores existing literature involving the role of Relational Cultural Therapy and emotion recognition on the therapeutic alliance. This exploration is accomplished through an extended literature review focusing specifically on emotion recognition, RCT, and the therapeutic alliance, with an additional focus on art therapy. The themes discussed center around emotional expression and recognition, rupture and repair in the therapeutic relationship, and connection, disconnection, and mutual empathy through a relational-cultural lens. Patients were contacted via phone call to establish knowledge of and prescription status regarding naloxone. They were then invited to enroll in a research study consisting of two online surveys.

The patients who had been prescribed naloxone by the time the study had started ranked being persuaded by a medical professional as being the most important reason for accepting the naloxone prescription.

Insufficient data collected during the six-week time frame to draw statistically significant conclusions about what motivates patients to receive naloxone co-prescriptions.

Correlations seen in this study are interesting and warrant further investigation.

We hypothesized that providing mental health resources for adolescents and educating their parents and families would decrease the prevalence of substance abuse in the Camden, NJ community given that overdose death had risen 138% from 2014-2018. Educating parents and families on the importance of adolescents dealing with mental disorders may help evaluate the mental stability of their child and prevent them from turning to illicit substance to cope. Increasing the communication and the availability of resources for adolescents to turn to before resorting to illicit substances can have beneficial effects.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mentally debilitating condition that can present in a multitude of ways and its manifestations can vary within the diagnosed patient population. OCD can be diagnosed with the presence of either obsessions or compulsions and does not require both. Sometimes, OCD can affect a patient in a way that mimics delusional misidentification syndromes. In these cases, a patient's ego-dystonia can be a key distinguishing feature in diagnosis. Factitious disorder superimposed on self (FDIS) was first described in 1951by Richard Asher, who associated the disorder with Baron Munchhausen, who narrated unrealistic and exaggerated stories about his life.

Suspicion for FDIS should be raised when patients with atypical presentations of medical disorders seek excessive use of healthcare services despite ongoing lack of clinical evidence. Patients with FDIS often demand hospitalization for their symptoms, leading to unnecessary tests and treatments. These patients show signs of pathological lying, deceitfulness, are obstinate with medical staff, and display erratic behavior. In this work, we propose to examine the effects of physical activity on academic performance as physical activity is shown to improve mood, energy levels, confidence, and memory retention. We propose to recruit a sample of 200 psychology students from Portland State University. Each student will be asked to take an arithmetic problem-solving test then asked to study the material for three weeks. During the mid to late nineteenth century, psychiatrists increasingly focused on women’s sexual deviance. Nymphomania was a diagnosis that emerged from existing scientific and popular understandings of sex and gender differences, sexual appropriateness, and morality of domestic relationships. Medical journals and popular conceptions of female sexuality are indicators of how this diagnosis was prejudiced and used exclusively for women. The nymphomaniac diagnosis was rooted in the patriarchal desire to keep women oppressed.

Background: In the pandemic’s wake, marginalized adolescents face exacerbated barriers to accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and mental health (MH) care. Telemedicine access for SRH/MH care has increased, but disparities remain.

Objectives/Goal: We assessed the impact of our intervention (AccessKCTeen) on care access.

Methods/Design: We trained four peer leaders to share SRH/MH information and mobilize their networks to attend AccessKCTeen outreach events.
