The purpose of this study is to explore cognitive variables in select populations of the physically disabled to detect suicidal ideation. In contrast to the majority of studies focusing mainly on physical or vegetative symptomology, this study focused purely on the cognitive, emotional, psychosocial aspects of schema leading up to suicidal ideation. The youth population is vulnerable to the constant changes that they are encountering. The stressors of school, their changing bodies, and coping with the stressors of home all play an important role in the way that they develop themselves as responsible citizens. The purpose of this study is to add new information to the field of social work and enhance the current practices that are implemented in the criminal justice system to help juvenile dilinquents. This study seeks to answer questions on the effects of the presence of surviving children on bereaved parents' grief. Bereaved parents have been shown to be at risk for psychological, social and health related conditions due to the unique type of grief experienced from the loss of a child. Increasing knowledge related to factors that influence how bereaved parents process grief could lead to interventions becoming more appropriate in addressing the specific needs of this population.

The intent of this research is to determine the relationship, if any, between social worker characteristics such as age, gender, parental status, years of experience as a social worker, education level and the perception of safety and risk factors in child abuse investigations. The research study will focus on the public sector of child welfare, specifically the initial investigation period (Investigative Services program) within Riverside County Department of Public Social Services in Riverside, California. A quantitative questionnaire was provided to social workers currently assigned within Investigative Services (IS) programs.

This study tried to see if there is a correlation with the level of care an elderly person receives in a tri-level assisted living home and the quality of life they perceive and the level of depression they experience. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used. 18 participants were individually interviewed and were verbally administered the tests and questionnaire from a local tri-level assisted living facility in San Bernardino County which has 103 residents.

This thesis centers on establishing the relationship between a parent's employment status and the impact the loss of funding from CalWORKs Stage 3 childcare funding might have on child abuse. CalWORKs Stage 3 funding was installed in 1997 as a safety net for families to receive subsidized childcare for working parents if the household is below 75% of the state median income and the children are under the age of 13 and eliminated in November 2010. The purpose of this study was to address social workers concerns associated with the loss of this funding.

The purpose of this study was to explore attitudes of local policy stakeholders in regards to needle exchange programs (NEPs), focusing on Riverside Council Members to conduct face-to-face interviews using nine closed and open-ended questions. The majority are opposed to implenting NEP's in their ward. Additionally, the majority of participants are opposed to the idea of harm reduction approach with intravenous drug users. This study may be helpful to anyone attempting to establish NEPs in Riverside in designing a public relations campaign that would effectively address the stigma associated with intravenous drug use, HIV/AIDS and needle exchange services.
