First Turolian Findings In The Neogene Sequence Of Denizli Basin (Sw Anatolia) And Its Regional Palaeobiogeographic Significance, Adil Doğan, Serdar Mayda, M.Cihat Alçi̇çek

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The large fossil vertebrates obtained from the alluvial flood-plain deposits of the Kolankaya formation are determined as Skoufotragus laticeps (Andree, 1926) and Hipparion brachypus (Hensel, 1862), as representative elements of palaeomammal faunas spanning from the eastern Mediterranean to Iranian domains during the late Miocene (early-middle Turolian, MN11-12). These first Turolian records from the basin fill succession bear importance on reconstruction for the palaeobiogeographic diversity of relevant taxons as well as admit of interbasinal stratigraphic correlation for the Western Anatolian terrestrial Neogene basins.

Descriptions, Systematics And Revisions Of The Subgenera Alveolina (Glomalveolina) Hottinger, 1960 And Alveolina (Alveolina) D’Orbigny, 1826 (Foraminiferida), Şükrü Acar

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

In this study, the genus Alveolina D’ Orbigny, 1826 and its Alveolina (Alveolina) D’ Orbigny, 1826 and Alveolina (Glomalveolina) Hottinger, 1960 subgenera were re-examined and identified. Systematics of the subgenera Alveolina (Alveolina)=Alv. (Alv.) and Alveolina (Glomalveolina)=Alv.(Glomalv.) have also been reviewed and revised. Alv. (Glomalv.) is considered as a subgenus, not a genus (?). Because, all the generic features of microspheric generations (fB) of these two subgenera are identical. Thus, Alveolina D’ Orbigny, 1826 and Glomalveolina Hottinger, 1960 cannot be used as if they were two different genera (?). Otherwise Glomalveolina would be the synonym of Alveolina in “Systematic Paleontology” chapter. …

Palynology Of The Kılçak Formation (Early Miocene) From Central Anatolia: Implications For Palaeoclimate And Palaeoenvironment, Nurdan Yavuz, Şükrü Sinan Demi̇rer

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The palynological analysis of the early Miocene successions of the Kılçak formation (Central Anatoia, Turkey) was carried out in order to reconstruct the palaeovegetation. The pollen spectra indicate a fl ora dominated by Pinus, co-dominance of Cupressaceae in one of the investigated successions, and lower percentages of trees such as Taxodioideae within Cupressaceae, Quercus deciduous type, Carya, Carpinus, Ulmus, Engelhardioideae, Salix, Alnus and Juglans. Herbs are represented by minor amounts of Poaceae, Amaranthaceae/Chenopodiaceae and Asteraceae. This flora indicates the presence of a Taxodium topogenous mire with a nearby riparian vegetation and broadleaved deciduous mixed forests developed in the surrounding distant …
