Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The study area covers the northern coasts of Cyprus from the Güzelyurt Gulf to the Gazimağusa Gulf. This study was carried out in order to reveal the presence of the alien foraminifera, which are widely distributed in the Eastern Mediterranean particularly Amphistegina lobifera in the study area, and the effects of trace elements on faunal assemblages (foraminifera, ostracod and mollusc). The bottom sediment samples were taken from eighteen different points and depths, the faunal assemblages were examined, and the sediment distribution map of the studied area was made by ICP-MS analysis and geochemical evaluations. 30 genera and 48 species of …

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

This study was conducted to determine fauna and flora assemblages of Holocene sequences from Gemlik Gulf (SE Marmara Sea) and to obtaine their similarities and differences between the assemblages of Gemlik and İzmit Bays. Total of 201 dark gray colored, fine to medium grained sandy clay samples were studied. In the drilled samples, 22 genera and 38 species were identified from the foraminifera characterizing the infralittoral zone. 40 genera and 58 species of foraminifera characterizing the upper circalittoral zone were identified. In addition, Black Sea originated Ammonia parasovica was found for the first time in cores taken from Gemlik Gulf. …

Ostracods Of The Mediterranean (The Gulf Of Antalya ) And The Aegean Sea (Ayvalik And Kuşadasi) And Their Biogeographical Distributions, Derya Parlak, Atike Nazi̇k May 2016

Ostracods Of The Mediterranean (The Gulf Of Antalya ) And The Aegean Sea (Ayvalik And Kuşadasi) And Their Biogeographical Distributions, Derya Parlak, Atike Nazi̇k

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The aim of this study is taxonomic investigation and environmental distribution of ostracoda association from the deep sediments of the Mediterranean (The Gulf of Antalya) and Aegean Sea (Alibey and Maden islands/ Ayvalık and Kuşadası) and identification of species surviving up to present. Twenty genera and 26 species are determined by examining the ostracoda contents of the 197 samples from the deep sediments from 5 to 30 m depth in the Antalya Bay (Mediterranean). 24 genera and 34 species in 84 samples belonging to 4 cores around Alibey and Maden islands to the north of Ayvalık in Aegean Sea have …

The Ostracod Fauna And Environmental Characteristics Of The Volcano Sedimentary Yol Üstü Formation In The Hinis Region, Erzurum (Eastern Anatolia), Turkey, Ümit Şafak Mar 2013

The Ostracod Fauna And Environmental Characteristics Of The Volcano Sedimentary Yol Üstü Formation In The Hinis Region, Erzurum (Eastern Anatolia), Turkey, Ümit Şafak

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The volcanosedimentary Yolüstü formation which outcrops in the vicinity of Hınıs Town, the southeast of Erzurum City, consists of conglomerate, marl, agglomerate, claystone, tuffite, fragmented travertine limestone with fragments of sand – pebble - plant, lacustrine limestone and tuffaceous – clayey limestone. In this formation, carefully selected 3 measured stratigraphic sections were taken at levels in which the lithology of hard travertine limestones with plant fragments and soft tuffaceous – clayey limestone are present. Washed samples which had been taken from these sections were studied and assessed, and then ostracods reflecting freshwater and brackish water environments were detected. In the …

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The hot water submarine spring which is located at a depth of 2.50 m on Yıldız Cape, Ilıca Cove (Cesme-Izmir) was investigated for its recent benthic foraminifer assemblage. 38 surface sediment samples have been collected on 3 transects. The Pacific Ocean and the Red Sea originated benthic foraminifers were abundantly observed. The identifi ed species are Nodopthalmidium antillarum (Cushman), Spiroloculina antillarum d’Orbigny, Triloculina fi chteliana d’Orbigny, Euthymonacha polita (Chapman), Coscinospira acicularis (Batsch), Peneroplis arietinus (Batsch), Amphisorus hemprichii Ehrenberg, Sorites orbiculus Ehrenberg, Cymbaloporetta plana (Cushman). Beside these species, Peneroplis arietinus (Batsch), Spiroloculina antillarum d’Orbigny, Triloculina cf. fi chteliana d’Orbigny and Cymbaloporetta …
