Dynamic Cache Partitioning For Multi-Core Systems, Yang Zhang
Dynamic Cache Partitioning For Multi-Core Systems, Yang Zhang

As the power consumption (power wall) is limiting the clock frequency increase, multi-core and many-core processors become the major-trend of the new generation of processors. One of the biggest challenges to achieve high performance in multi-core systems is the growing disparity between processor and memory speeds. The "memory wall"' problem, i.e., the growing disparity of speed between the processor and the memory, becomes even more serious in the multi-core systems. Caches have been highly successful in bridging the processor-memory performance gap by providing fast access to frequently used data. Caches also save power by limiting expensive off-chip memory accesses. In …
Project Omoverhi : Low-Cost, Neonatal Incubator, Richard Fong, Guillermo Gallardo, William Jeffery, Danny Maeda, Gabriel Romero
Project Omoverhi : Low-Cost, Neonatal Incubator, Richard Fong, Guillermo Gallardo, William Jeffery, Danny Maeda, Gabriel Romero
Interdisciplinary Design Senior Theses
Project Omoverhi, since its beginning in 2010-2011, has been focused on creating an incubator that has the capability of operating completely off grid. This year the project has been focused on redesigning the original system to reduce the cost to approximately $1000. In addition to this we have designed and implemented a control system that enables the user to set a desired temperature which can be maintained to within 1 degree Celsius. Before the project is able to be completed further work must be done. The thermal storage system that was initially proposed by the original team still needs to …

Wireless Impact Detection System, Shawno Auwae, Kyle Terriere
Interdisciplinary Design Senior Theses
Recently, brain trauma caused by multiple concussions has become a pressing issue for contact sports, mainly American football players. The severity of the impacts in these sports have led to discussion concerning the standard safety equipment used, as well as the rules enforcing a certain style of play. Multiple studies have shown that concussions have damaging long-term effects, including dementia and memory loss. The dominant professional football organization, the National Football League (NFL), employs qualified athletic trainers to diagnose and treat players with concussions, but many incidents still go undetected. This problem is magnified at the youth level, where the …
Dynamic Poverty Heat Map, Jonathan Ahumada, Kurt Jurgens, Jasmine Farias
Dynamic Poverty Heat Map, Jonathan Ahumada, Kurt Jurgens, Jasmine Farias
Computer Science and Engineering Senior Theses
Data management and analysis can become an overwhelming task when having to deal with large amounts of data. Fundación Paraguaya (FP), an organization that aims at reducing poverty in Paraguay, currently has been facing this data readability issue. The data from electronic surveys conducted by FP to measure poverty levels in different areas of Paraguay are currently presented in a complex and overwhelming manner via Excel spreadsheet. This method of data representation increases the risk of committing errors, as well as slows down the process of efficiently locating the areas of greatest needs and allocating the resources to these areas. …
An End To End-To-End? A Review Essay Of Barbara Van Schewick’S Internet Architecture And Innovation, Adam Candeub
An End To End-To-End? A Review Essay Of Barbara Van Schewick’S Internet Architecture And Innovation, Adam Candeub
Federal Communications Law Journal
Amidst much controversy, the FCC released its landmark "network neutrality" order in December 2010. This regulation prohibits Internet service providers, such as Verizon or Comcast, from discriminating in favor of traffic or content that they own or with which they are affiliated. Professor Barbara van Schewick's recently published book, Internet Architecture and Innovation, could not be timelier. Employing a variety of economic and technical arguments, van Schewick defends the type of regulation the FCC passed as necessary to preserve the Internet's potential for innovation. My central critique of Internet Architecture is its deployment of economic theories on one side of …

With the development and deployment of ubiquitous information sensing, mobile devices, wireless sensor networks, RFID readers, simulation, and computer generated software logs, big data have become precious resources for scientific study, business intelligence, and national security. As one of the most intuitive and effective analysis methods, visual cluster analysis remains as a significant challenge for big datasets. First, existing visualization models need to be updated to process big data in parallel. Second, processing big data inevitably bring large latency, which conflicts the requirement of interactivity. In this thesis, we develop the CloudVista framework to address the common problems with data reduction methods …
Production Of A Video Tape Recorded Supplement For Use In Teaching Electrical Tuned Circuit Theory, William A. Carlson
Production Of A Video Tape Recorded Supplement For Use In Teaching Electrical Tuned Circuit Theory, William A. Carlson
All Master's Theses
This paper presents a sample of the proceedures utilized to produce a video tape recorded suppliment for use in teaching electrical tuned circuit theory. It is designed so that it could be used as a ready reference for anyone desiring to make a video tape recorded teaching aid. A recomendation is that, with the advent of the simplified video tape recorder, every teacher should become as practiced in its operation and utilization as he now is with the film projector.
