I. SCOPE OF THIS REPORT 1. A stress investigation has been made at the load points of beam E-18-14-88a for spans of 6 and 12 ft. with center load and for spans of 12 ft. with quarter point loading. 2. A similar investigation has been made on beam E-18-12-816a.

I. SCOPE OF THIS REPORT 1. A.stress investigation has been made on beam E-18-12-816 b at the load points with 6 and 12 ft. span and center load and with 12 ft. span and quarter point load. 2. The results of these tests seem to show that, after the completion of similar tests on two more beams of the present shipment enough data will have been gathered to answer the question of stress distribution. It was therefore thought advisable to carry out a more complete investigation on this beam. For this purpose the stress distribution at five additional cross sections …

I. IDENTIFICATION OF SPECIMENS. The method of designation used hitherto is not sufficiently differentiated to identify the present and future specimens since specimens with identical bottom flanges but different top flanges are used. For this reason from now on each specimen is designated by symbols and figures, for example D-18-16-88a in which: D designates a series of beams, 18 designates the gage of mterial used for web and bottom flange, 16 designates the gage of material used for the top flange, 8 designates the depth of the section in inches, 8 designates the width of the bottom flange in inches, …

Report On Tests Of Fenestra 1 1/2" Roof Deck Used In Horizontally Loaded Diaphragms, Authur Wilson, George Winter
CCFSS Library (1939 - present)
INTRODUCTION Increasing interest in recent years in the performance of roof systems acting as shear diaphragms to resist horizontally applied loads, as well as the vertical loads for which they are primarily designed, has led to an increasingly large number of tests of fullsize and scaled structures loaded in this manner. Fenestra, Inc., manufacturers of light gage steel floor and roof panels, has sponsored an extensive series of tests at Cornell University of floor and roof diaphragms composed of certain of their standard panel sections. The following report describes tests of shear diaphragms using three types of Fenestra 1 1/2" …

I. OBJECT OF THIS REPORT The full program of tests outlined at the meeting of the Technical Subcommittee held in Ithaca on June 12 has been carried out with one exception: due to the limited time it has not been possible to determine the modulus of elasticity of the sheets. However since the modulus of elasticity of steel under any circumstances is about 29,000,000 to 30,000,000 p.s.i. this point of the program has no immediate practical significance. The following tests have been carried out: 1. Tests to failure of the remaining specimens of the series B - 22. 2. Determination …

I. OBJECT OF THIS REPORT Buckling tests have been carried out on the remaining three beams of the 22 gage series, i.e. B-22-812a, B-22-816a and B-22-820a. A stress survey has been made on the bottom flange of beam B-22-812b. A new series of 22 gage specimens has been designed for the further study of the bottom flange stresses and of the top flange buckling.

I. OBJECT OF THIS REPORT Since the investigations discussed in the previous report have proved that the stress distribution at midspan was fairly uniform in the narrowest, medium and widest beams of the 14 gage series, it seemed unnecessary to carry out investigations on the remaining two intermediate beams A-14-66 and A-l4-610. Three beams of the 22 gage series have been investigated so far, namely B-22-84a and b and B-22-88a. Detailed stress distribution surveys have been carried out at midspan on beams B-22-84b and B-22-88a. It was impossible to carry out such a survey on beam B-22-84a, since this beam …

I. OBJECT OF THIS REPORT After having obtained preliminary information from the abbreviated tests referred to in the previous report, a detailed survey of the stress distribution over the bottom flange at midspan has been carried out for the beams A-14-612b, A-14-612a and A-14-68a (in chronological order). Furthermore a special investigation has been made at the same section of beam A-14-612a for the purpose of determining the accuracy of the actual strain measurements.

The term, reinforced concrete, as generally used, is applied to that type of construction in which steel rods are imbedded in concrete members. In these members the steel and concrete are considered to act as a unit and both are assumed to be effective in developing the resisting moment of the beam.

Location, Construction, And Drainage Of Common Roads, Edward B. Summers
Bachelors Theses
To write upon, and do justice to the subject of common roads, it is necessary that one should be familiar with every variety of them. The roads in some of the advanced and highly civilized communities are of a most admirable character; while in the new and thinly populated countries, they are found deficient in nearly all the attributes of good roads. Only a few kinds that may be in some of the most populous districts will be here designated.
