Hsus Opposes Cruel Clubbing Of Harp Seal Pups
Close Up Reports
World opinion, including that of many Canadians, has long been against the annual so-called "seal harvest" on the ice floes off the coast of Newfoundland. Yet the Canadian bureaucrats refuse to budge.
As spring approaches, protests are being raised throughout the world to end this barbaric practice. At the same time the Canadian government is attempting to convince the world that the clubbing is both "humane" and necessary.

An Overview Of The Proposed Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Hydro-Electric Project : Aroostook County, Maine, New England Division, Department Of The Army, Corps. Of Engineers, Department Of Energy
Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
An overview of The Dickey-Lincoln Project in northern Aroostook County, Maine is a proposed Federally financed hydro-electric power generating facility. Electric energy generated by the facility would be introduced into the New England Power Pool system through construction of new transmission lines across northern Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Responsibility for investigation and construction rests in the two Federal agencies, i.e. dams and reservoirs in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and transmission lines in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The two actions are part of the same proposal, although they are in essence separate and distinct. The dams …

The Benefits Reaped From Block Grant Fund Will Increase, Chester Smolski

"The Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 signed into law by President Ford was a landmark piece of legistlation. It provided federal money for communities in block grants, with each local community making its own decisions as to the distrubution of these funds in areas such as housing, parks and community facilities."

Hsus Spotlights Circus Cruelty
Hsus Spotlights Circus Cruelty
Close Up Reports
Who can deny the sense of excitement the young and the young-at-heart feel when the circus comes to town? The sounds, smells, and attractions create a fantasy world where everything is fun.
But is it all good clean fun? Evidence in recent years suggests quite the contrary. The worst problems seem to be with the smaller circuses. In the past year, The HSUS has assisted several local societies investigating cruelty to animals in traveling circuses, rescued elephants and lions abandoned by a circus, and signed three complaints against one of the largest of today's small big tops.
According to Frantz …
Hsus Raids Save Suffering Dogs
Hsus Raids Save Suffering Dogs
Close Up Reports
In two raids separated by more than 1,000 miles, HSUS investigators seized several hundred suffering dogs, arranged for their care, and spurred legal action against the collector and breeder. Describing the two places as "cesspools", Frantz Dantzler, chief HSUS investigator, said "These two places were chosen for raids because they are typical of the many substandard puppy mills and kennels found in rural out-of-the-way America."
Both the Roseboom, New York Kennel and the Columbus, Kansas puppy mill had similar violations of humane standards and everyday common sense. Most of the seized animals had advanced cases of mange. Many animals had …

In the mid1920s, the Bakelite Corporation took over ownership of Autopoint. Over the next 40 years Autopoint had several different corporate owners, but it continued to operate as a stand-alone company with its own officers, employees, manufacturing plant, sales force, etc. Around 1970, the situation changed radically, Gillette bought Autopoint and integrated it with it’s Paper Mate division. Manufacture and management was transferred to Paper Mate facilities and personnel.

Implementation Programs For State Solid Waste Management Plans: Kentucky And Maryland As Prototypes, Dennis A. Joyce
Masters Theses
Solid wastes management responsibility has traditionally been delegated by the states to their political subdivisions. Through the state planning grant provisions of the Federal Solid Waste Disposal Act of 1965, many states are responding to the solid wastes problem that is taxing the capabilities of their local governments. In confronting the solid wastes problem within their borders, many states are re-evaluating their traditional roles.
This thesis is concerned with the response of Kentucky and Maryland to the Solid Waste Disposal Act of 1965. It is the purpose of this thesis to help to better understand the state solid wastes planning …

Operation And Management Guides For A Dairy Manufacturing Plant, Mohammad Valanejad
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The dairy and food industries have become highly technical and almost completely mechanized. They also ranked as one of the greatest industries in the country at the present time and represent an investment of many billions of dollars.
The rigid health department regulations, together with the special processes required, call for many types of specialized equipments and procedures. Most of the processes require heat, power, and refrigeration. More exact control of processes, as well as more efficient operation, have become increasingly important as these industries have matured and as competition has become keener. Material handling and automation are major developments …

The Biology Of The Utah Chub, Gila Atraria (Girard), Of Scofield Reservoir, Utah, Harold F. Olson
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The Utah chub is one of the most important non-game fish in Utah. It has a wide range, and occurs in every drainage in Utah. The Utah chub is not important economically as food fish nor is it of much value commercially. The sportsmen think of this species as trash and do not consider catching or consuming them. However, the Utah chub may be caught on hook and line more readily than many game species. The Utah chub in Scofield Reservoir have been caught by trolling, bait fishing and fly casting and furnish considerable sport when caught with a light …
