A Maturity Model For Micro-Credentialing And Shorter Forms Of Learning Practice In Australasian Universities, Ratna M. Selvaratnam, Steven Warburton, Dominique Parrish, Suzanne Crew
A Maturity Model For Micro-Credentialing And Shorter Forms Of Learning Practice In Australasian Universities, Ratna M. Selvaratnam, Steven Warburton, Dominique Parrish, Suzanne Crew
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
As education and training providers grapple with increasing demand for micro-credentials, guidance on how to improve providers’ capacity and capability to deliver a high standard of learning along with profitable outcomes is needed. This study sought to develop a maturity model that could assist higher education providers in distinguishing their stage of development for delivering micro-credentials and provide guidance on activities to advance micro-credential maturity. A survey of Australasian higher education providers validated the developed model and provided an indicator of the sector’s maturity and ability to meet the increasing demand for micro-credentials. The model’s domains of quality, resourcing, standards …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026
The application of engagement strategies to ensure democracy of decisions is increasingly valued and adopted by governments to ensure trust in the process and ownership of the outcome. This paper describes the approach and methods used to engage early childhood education and care (ECEC) and outside school hours care (OSHC) stakeholders in the contemporizing and updating of Australia’s national Approved Learning Frameworks (ALFs): Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) and My Time Our Place: Framework for School Age Care (MTOP). Theoretical underpinnings of a robust stakeholder engagement strategy ensured a range of methods were …

Journal Articles: Epidemiology
BACKGROUND: Healthcare accessibility and utilization are important social determinants of health. Lack of access to healthcare, including missed or no-show appointments, can have negative health effects and be costly to patients and providers. Various office-based approaches and community partnerships can address patient access barriers.
OBJECTIVES: (1) To understand provider perceptions of patient barriers; (2) to describe the policies and practices used to address late or missed appointments, and (3) to evaluate access to patient support services, both in-clinic and with community partners.
METHODS: Mailed cross-sectional survey with online response option, sent to all Nebraska primary care clinics (n = 577) …

African swine fever (ASF) causes significant morbidity and mortality in both domestic and wild suids (Sus scrofa), and disease outbreaks convey profound economic costs to impacted industries due to death loss, the cost of culling exposed/infected animals as the primary disease control measure, and trade restrictions. The co-occurrence of domestic and wild suids significantly complicates ASF management given the potential for wild populations to serve as persistent sources for spillover. We describe the unique threat of African swine fever virus (ASFV) introduction to the United States from epidemiological and ecological perspectives with a specific focus on disease management at the …

World Trade Organization Dispute Resolution And China: Is The System Broken, Flawed, Or Working Exactly As Written?, Heather R. Dougan
Pepperdine Policy Review
China highlights the flaws and limitations of the World Trade Organization’s dispute resolution process. China’s importance in the global economy led to its selection. The paper overviews China’s accession process, the two initial safeguards against subversion—the Transitional Product-Specific Safeguard Mechanism and the Transitional Review Mechanism, and how the Product-Specific Safeguard Mechanism and the Transitional Review Mechanism, and how the WTO’s process can be subverted. The paper also analyzes the WTO process subversion counterapproaches used by other Member States, mainly the United States. The two major flaws of the process are the lack of protections in place against subversion and the …

Educational Considerations
Alex Romagnoli’s article in this issue, a discussion of the use of quantitative metrics in education and baseball, provides a thoughtful discussion the limitations inherent in those metrics as well as ways they can be enhanced to provide more useful information. This manuscript extends Romagnoli’s manuscript with specific illustrations of the ways grade point averages can be interpreted in context along with a call for a much more nuanced approach to data by policy makers and decision makers.
