Background: The escalating incidence of antimicrobial resistance in Gram-negative bacteria has elicited worldwide apprehension owing to its profound ramifications, such as the emergence of infections that cannot be effectively treated and may result in mortality. The poultry industry is of significant concern due to its substantial utilization of antimicrobials, including those regarded as last-resort therapies for complex multi-drug resistant Gram-negative infections. Methods: A comprehensive collection of ninety cloacal swabs was undertaken from a diverse range of thirty poultry farms located within the Nablus governorate during the period spanning from March to June in the year 2019. The swabs, specifically collected …

As we see in the community, environment, and daily life, bacterial, microbial, and viral infection creates the severe problem. The medical field is continuously worried about the treatment of infections caused by the microorganism. Day by day, the microorganism in nature becomes stronger and gains more susceptibility to major infections. The researcher continuously works on the development of new antibiotic to break infectivity of the microorganism. But bacteria have the characteristic to adapt in a new environment by generating resistance. Many antibiotics since the discovery of penicillin work on the effects of bacteria for a short duration of time, and …

Role Of Inflammatory And Growth Factors In Diabetes Mellitus, Sayed Mohammed Firdous, Sourav Pal Jan 2024

Role Of Inflammatory And Growth Factors In Diabetes Mellitus, Sayed Mohammed Firdous, Sourav Pal

Palestinian Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal

In diabetes mellitus, both inflammatory and growth factors play significant roles in the development and progression of the disease and its associated complications. Diabetics frequently show signs of chronic, low-grade inflammation. Insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction are exacerbated by the high levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines prevalent in diabetes, such as TNF-α and IL-6. High levels of the inflammatory marker C-reactive protein are linked to insulin resistance and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. An upsurge in in diabetes is caused by NF-κB activation. Complications and pathological processes in diabetes may be exacerbated by a dysregulation of growth factors. The angiogenesis-related …

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, a gram-negative nonfermenter, is ubiquitous in the environment and has the propensity to colonize devices and even the respiratory tract. The organism shows intrinsic resistance to multiple drugs commonly used in hospitals, like cephalosporins, carbapenems, and aminoglycosides, thus selecting this organism from endogenous patient flora. Here we conducted a retrospective study presented as a case series to share our experience in our setup. We encountered 9 cases during 1 year, most sensitive to levofloxacin and minocycline. All the cases apart from two were discharged successfully following the appropriate regimen. The mean age of patients was 50 years, and …

An Overview Of Nanocapsule And Lipid Nanocapsule: Recent Developments And Future Prospects, Nagib Elmarzugi, Rokaya Amara, Malak Eshmela, Ahmad Eid

Palestinian Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal

Nanocapsules are colloidal particles with dimensions measured in nanometers and generally obtained in the range of 100 to 500 nm through nanoencapsulation technologies. Nanoencapsulation encapsulates nano-sized particles in liquid or solid form to create nanocapsules or nanoparticles. Generally, six classical methods are involved in nanocapsule formation: nanoprecipitation, emulsification-diffusion, double emulsification, emulsification-coacervation, polymer coating, and layer-by-layer. Nanocapsules are prepared from different monomers and cross-linked polymers, contributing to their stability during and after encapsulation. They are segregated into ionic and non-ionic by the surface formal charges, which then influence the type of applications. The applications of nanocapsules usually range from developing targeted …
