Aim: Herbs, spices, and minerals are important therapeutic attributes of ayurvedic formulations. The formulation Arogyavardhini Gutika is mentioned in the essential drug list of the Ayurvedic Formulary of India. It has a claimed safety profile and is used for the treatment of jaundice, leprosy, fever, oedema, obesity, skin disorders, and other hepatic issues. Methods: An in- vitro study was performed by alpha-amylase inhibition using starch, iodine, and dinitrosalicyclic acid. An in-vivo study was performed using a streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model. The aims of this study were to estimate the frequency and identify reasons for non-adherence to lifestyle modifications among type 2 diabetic patients. A cross-sectional study was conducted using the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities-Arabic instrument and the Arabic version of the Michigan Diabetes Knowledge Test. A convenience sample was collected. The sample included 410 participants. The mean age of the participants was 61 ¬± 9.70 years. Of the participants, only 95 (23.2%) had a controlled blood glucose level (gly-cosylated hemoglobin ‚⧠7%). Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an increasing health challenge. Control of blood glucose level, as measured by level of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), is used as an indicator of glycemic control and potential risk of diabetic complications. This study aimed to investigate the extent of glycemic control among type 2 diabetic patients and to determine factors associated with increasing levels of HbA1c.A total of 380 patients were interviewed using a questionnaire prepared for this cross ‚Äì sectional study.
