Introduction: Real-time fMRI-based neurofeedback (rt-fMRI-NFB) is a non-invasive technology that enables individuals to self-regulate brain activity linked to neuropsychiatric symptoms, including those associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Selecting the target brain region for neurofeedback-mediated regulation is primarily informed by the neurobiological characteristics of the participant population. There is a strong link between PTSD symptoms and multiple functional disruptions in the brain, including hyperactivity within both the amygdala and posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) during trauma-related processing. As such, previous rt-fMRI-NFB studies have focused on these two target regions when training individuals with PTSD to regulate neural activity. However, the differential …

Background: Social exposures are linked to an array of health outcomes, especially around aging. In this study, we examined the association of social capital, defined as social relationships and networks, with clinical and biological outcomes including cognitive health, oral inflammation, and epigenetic aging. Methods: We used data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) (n =1,479; aged 45–85 years), categorizing social capital as structural and cognitive capital. Oral inflammation was determined as the presence of gum bleeding. Epigenetic aging was computed as the difference between chronological age and DNA methylation age. We constructed multivariable regression models adjusted for covariates …
Corrosion Of Oil Pipeline: A Case Study On The Niger Delta Region Of Nigeria., Victor U. Okoro
Corrosion Of Oil Pipeline: A Case Study On The Niger Delta Region Of Nigeria., Victor U. Okoro
Corrosion Research
Corrosion of oil pipelines in Nigeria, particularly in the Niger Delta region, has extensive and detrimental environmental and societal impacts. This issue results in substantial financial losses and reputational damage for oil companies operating in the area. Local communities suffer economically, affecting agriculture and food security. Furthermore, corrosion-related oil spills lead to air quality degradation by releasing volatile organic compounds and greenhouse gases, contributing to respiratory issues and worsening climate change.
These oil spill cleanups are costly and time-consuming, with estimated expenses reaching billions of dollars. Using the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) case study, it is evident that addressing …

With the advent of technology and use of latest devices, they produces voluminous data. Out of it, 80% of the data are unstructured and remaining 20% are structured and semi-structured. The produced data are in heterogeneous format and without following any standards. Among heterogeneous (structured, semi-structured and unstructured) data, textual data are nowadays used by industries for prediction and visualization of future challenges. Extracting useful information from it is really challenging for stakeholders due to lexical and semantic matching. Few studies have been solving this issue by using ontologies and semantic tools, but the main limitations of proposed work were …

Introduction to the chapter:
The political-economic practices of commercial music production may be plausibly analogised to a relation of plunder and redistribution, clothed in and (legally) legitimated by recording and publishing contracts. For African Americans, this was particularly true during the pre-Civil Rights era. During that time, entrepreneurs and companies that offered recording, song writing and publishing contracts to African Americans were able to take advantage of social-structural contexts of considerable societal racial exploitation and violence targeted at African Americans. Further, for all artists prior to (and even during) the digital era, the realities of the commercial recording industry have …

Corrosion Case Study On Pipeline - Economic And Environmental Assessment, Kangze Ren
Corrosion Case Study On Pipeline - Economic And Environmental Assessment, Kangze Ren
Corrosion Research
The corrosion issue, which was difficult to tackle as the former Soviets had predicted in the first place, was not appropriately addressed by the colonialism-tailored oil production, resulting in astronomical budget blow-out and environmental disaster in the North Caspian Sea region. Unfortunately, limited information on the pipeline leaking accidents regarding the project cost, social impact, and environmental impact was released to the public. The purpose of the review is to draw attention to the Kashagan pipeline leaking accidents, the factors that influence corrosion management for oil production, and the consequences of not adopting proper corrosion control.
Corrosion Case Study On Pipeline, Kangze Ren
Corrosion Case Study On Pipeline, Kangze Ren
Corrosion Research
The Kashagan pipeline leaks were likely caused by sulfur stress corrosion cracking, a combined corrosion mechanism developed by the presence of high pressure, the high level of hydrogen sulfide(the main "ingredient" of sour gas), and poor metallurgical choice. Improper welding and poor metallurgical examination were blamed for causing the leaking issue. The purpose of the current review is to raise the alarm about the inappropriate corrosion management of Kashagan oil production and its societal and environmental consequences.

The dissociative subtype of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a distinct PTSD phenotype characterized by trauma-related dissociation, alongside unique patterns of functional connectivity. However, disparate findings across multiple scales of investigation have highlighted the need for a cohesive understanding of dissociative neurobiology. We took a step towards this goal by conducting one of the broadest region of interest (ROI)-to-ROI analyses performed on a PTSD population to date. In this retrospective study, we investigated resting-state functional MRI data collected from a total of 192 participants, 134 of whom were diagnosed with PTSD. Small functional connectivity differences (maximum effect size 0.27) were …
