Specifically the author segmented the survey respondents into the lodging product service categories of budget, moderate, upscale and luxury to analyze …

An Evaluation Of The Orientation And Training Programs Of A Fast Food Franchise, Cheryl M. Donahey
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
Very few attempts have been made to adequately evaluate training programs. The research reported here is an attempt to evaluate the effects of the revised orientation and training programs of a fast food franchise. Subjects consisted of 676 hourly employees of a Central Florida fast food franchise who completed questionnaires soliciting measures of the following perceptions: managements' consideration and structure levels and the effectiveness of the revised orientation and training programs. Modest support was found for the prediction that the revised programs would increase the employees' perception of managements' consideration. No evidence was found to support the hypotheses that employees …

Assessing The Economic Feasibility Of Synthetic Natural Gas Under Conditions Of Uncertainty, Mohammad M. Iranmanesh
Assessing The Economic Feasibility Of Synthetic Natural Gas Under Conditions Of Uncertainty, Mohammad M. Iranmanesh
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
The science of synthetic fuel production began in the seventeenth century. However, large-scale production of synthetic fuels started in the early 1900's and, for several decades, gas manufactured from coal significantly contributed to the U.S. economy. The production of synthetic fuels declined due to increases in the price of coal and discoveries of predominantly methane natural gas. Today, an extensive network of pipelines is used to transmit and distribute natural gas for industrial and residential applications. The decline of natural gas reserves in the United States, in conjunction with the availability of very large coal reserves, has provided the incentive …

Properties Of A Dynamic Measure Of Industrial Concentration, Thomas Edward Billings
Properties Of A Dynamic Measure Of Industrial Concentration, Thomas Edward Billings
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
Several commonly used concentration measures are defined and discussed. The Grossack Model of Permanent Industrial Concentration and its three concentration indices are explained. Monte Carlo Techniques are used to generate synthetic data which is then used to compute theoretical values of the Grossack Model Indices. Values of other commonly used concentration indices are computed for comparison purposed. The Grossack Model Indices are then subjected to a variety of statistical tests. The results of these tests are presented and evaluated and a conclusion is drawn.
