As a picture of childhood composed from the point of view of a young boy named Freddie, who suffers the effects of repeated and ongoing trauma, the experience of reading The Freddie Stories presents a number of interpretive challenges: its main character is often split and in various states of disassociation, the difference between dreaming and waking life is not always obvious, multiple monsters appear in different and changeable forms, and as Freddie experiences repeated difficulties with language and cognitive function, his traumatic past enfolds upon the time in which the story is set. Organization X is one of nine Indigenous post-secondary institutions in Ontario. For over 25 years the organization has been operating on funding from partnership and grant proposals that is renewed on a yearly basis. In 2017, Ontario recognized Indigenous Institutes as the “third pillar” of Ontario’s post-secondary landscape which is to be implemented through the Indigenous Advanced Education and Skills Council (IAESC) who provides the quality assurance framework for Indigenous institutions. The nursing profession population demographic is homogeneous in comparison to the cultural and linguistic diversity of the larger Canadian population. This creates health disparities for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) clients entering the health care system where registered nurses are often first point of contact. The Canadian Nurses Association (2009) advocates for nursing programs to enroll and graduate CALD nursing students This will increase the heterogeneity of the nursing profession, minimize health disparities, and increase excellence in nursing care. Sister Helen Prejean has dedicated her life to opposing the death penalty after she witnessed an execution in her home state of Louisiana. Her efforts have sparked a national dialogue on capital punishment and she has helped shape the Catholic Church’s position on the topic. In 2011, she donated her personal archives to the university to help the DePaul community continue to learn from her work. A Chance For Success: Understanding How Latinx Students Make Meaning Of Federal Work-Study Employment, Raylea Danelle Rideau

Many students engage in Federal Work-Study as a means of additional income and part-time employment. However, few studies detail the program’s overall effectiveness and impact, especially from the perspectives of students of color. This qualitative study described, by way of multiple case study design, how Latinx students employed in at least one semester of an on-campus Federal Work-Study position make meaning of their employment experience. The researcher explored the varied experiences of six undergraduate Latina women employed through work-study through the theoretical lenses of happenstance, self-authorship, and career construction. This article reports the findings of action research on the implementation of extensive reading to literary text (henceforth ER) with learning logs (henceforth LL). The research question was: In what ways do the students engage in comprehending literary texts through ER with learning logs? And what are students’ reactions to these activities? The research was conducted in the English Language Education Study Program English Education Department of a state university in Indonesia in which twenty six students voluntarily participated in this study.
